Sam N Max works without sound, When I attempt to configure the sound, It claims Imuse.exe fails ? Any Ideas?

OK I give up, How do we make these puppies work in XP, DOTT bails at intro screen, Sam N Max has no sound, & surprise surprise Lucas arts are cheeky gits. Any help would be kindly appreciated. p.s.s Im running them in compatibility mode, Havent actually tried them without it but I feel it would be a tad silly to try.
