Try deleting the page file first then remake it at a set size. I had probs with my page file when i first installed xp pro and doing that cured the prob.

Are you logging on as an administrator. If not and you have messenger 4.6 then u wont be able to use it. To get messenger 4.6 to work with user groups other than admin you will need to uninstall 4.6 then install 4.5. Load messenger with all user that need to use it then reinstall 4.6 with an admin account. Messenger 4.6 should then work fine.

yeah it does use dos4gw. I also don't wanna dual boot . Just need it to work in winxp.

I don't think i have ever seen a coment on any forum about problems with any motherboard! I would like to know if anyone has ever heard of any problems with them. I have owned 4 so far and never had an probs. I also here alot of responses like "i installed an asus mb and my prob goes away". Hats off to Asus i guess. Comments appreciated.

Anyone managed to get xcom apocalypse running with win xp??? Damn awesome game but doesn't want to load on my machine. I know it doesn't run under w98/me if your video card is too new.(something about no vesa compatability or something. I really wanna play this game again. Help.

seems messenger 4.6 is the culprit. The fix is to uninstall messenger 4.6 then install 4.5. Then sign on with 4.5 with all user. after reinstall 4.6 and all is fine. Apparently microsoft nows about this prob and should have it fixed for the next release.

OK. It appears by default that windows messenger is usable only by admins group. But i share my computer with other ppl and need them to have access to messenger without them belonging to admins. Searched through group policy and now know how to dissable messenger but cannot find a way to enable it for other groups. Any help much appreciated.

OK Thanx for that but... checked in group policy and couldn't find any policy regarding messenger. Also found that modifying the user configuration appears to modify the admin group. Is there a way to change the user configuration to the user group instaed of administrators??? I also looked over all the policies in computer config and user config and found that none had been modified. I don't think the group policy for messenger has been changed. I think it was installed like that. help!

wonder how i can enable msn messenger to be used by users in groups other than admin. It appears in start menu for them but doesn't seam to load. All users from administrators group can use and access with no problem. No other groups can. How can I overcome this?
