    Printers In W2K

If you publish the printer(s) to AD and assign them to the groups (students?) And make sure that the drivers are that are required are placed on the server that the printer resides on, then I think the install will be run a the first logon. From what I can tell, Clutch is the guy to ask.

    XP and linux dual boot...

Partition magic / Boot magic are really useful for these types of configuration.

    Bsod

Could be the RAM, I had a similar experience with non HCL hardware. The motherboard and CPU don't sound to evenly matched either, but I'm no expert when it comes to chips and voltages.

    Win2k AD replication question

Hi, can anyone tell help me answer this question: If I were to setup replication between two 2k server machines and specify a database to be replicated from one machine to the other at regular intervals, can the said database be replicated if it is always open? The DB is an old, third party app that currently runs on an NT server box, I don't have any further info about it in particular. The crux of the question - can replication exist between open applications?

    Win2k AD replication question

Thanks clutch, I must confess that this isn't my first line of computer work, I'll pass on the advice to the person that's asked me, I think the biggest drawback is going to be that the database application is an old (old old) program, the guy reckons it runs in NT4 olay, so maybe It'll become clearer when we look at it later. Cheers

    Sp6a keeps screwing up!!

There are two versions of the service pack - they are like online IE upgrades, you can either download the whole package as one single exe, or download a "light" version which checks for existing file, and downloads only those that you need. The latter is the least favoured of the two options. I'm pretty sure the pack can be downloaded in full, If not it is availible on an Enterprise CD from Microsoft.

    Windows XP Constructive Criticism

Personally I haven't got anything good to say about XP. This is clearly an operating system aimed at the "Mum and Dad's market - first computer" genre. Too many un-necessary compulsory components, hideous abuse of system resourse (almost as bad as Me's). Its too cute looking, and worst of all, the amount of information is willingly sends out over the internet is scary.
