the pretender can u tell me how to do that

hi i have a problem i just installed windows 2000 and my current video card (Nvidia tnt model 64) just is not working. i instaled teh new detonators the main problem is that i cant change my resolution past 800 by 600 and teh color is 16 and will not change. in teh display under properties it says (default monitor) vga .. now i know thi sis wrong can someone plz help me i have been to many support pages but nothign is working. thank you
