The ink that is supposed to used on CD's, is a Marker/Pen that Conforms to the ASTM D-4236 Standard. For example, Sanford "Sharpie" permanant markers are compliant(actually says that on the marker),those are what i use. As far as having no white painted surface,it makes no difference as long as your not writing on the read side. Hammer

Should i buy an Sound Blaster® Audigy™ Surround 5.1 or not?
Hammer91 replied to Curley_Boy's topic in Hardware
really depends on what your doing, if u play games and watch movies,go with the audigy or Santa Cruz, if u do anything with audio(i.e. Multitracking,Midi) go with something like the M-Audio Audiophile 2496.The sound quality out of this card is excellent. Hammer -
Yup,you are correct sir! I'm using the S3TC Textures from the 2nd cd of UT game of year edition, and it does look REALLY nice.Even the "beta" OpenGL drivers that come with UT should work fine for you. Go to UT display adapter setup before you run the game and choose OpenGL. Hammer

Try using OpenGL as the api,not DirectX....worked for me...Good Luck. Hammer

i would but i dont own a scanner yet, sorry. To be honest u are better off getting the strategy guide "Morrowind Prophecies", the guide they give u is malnurished and basically useless. I went back to the store an hour after i got the game and picked up the book. You'll NEED it,believe me. Hammer

Yep,when i walked out onto the dock from the boat, and saw the water, well,i nearly fell off my chair.AMAZING.Walking through the water and seeing your wake, it's SO realistic. What games should look like =) The characters arent really that detailed tho IMHO.But all in all an excellent RPG (i have'nt even scratched the surface yet). When i first got into the game i went to a merchant hut, started looking around innocently, then i did it,i figuered i could take a look at something that was on a shelf so i double-clicked the item,i then took the bottle and i started drinking it LOL. The Merchant then jumps over the counter and beats the crap out of me LOL. Was amusing. Hammer

"A shocking 11000 not even tweaked, im well pleased to say the least." Your front side bus is bumped to 123Mhz, isn't that a "tweak" =) My last 3dmark2001se score was 10,027, thats COMPLETELY stock settings,no overclocking at all =) Hammer

Counter strike has the largest amount of hackers i have ever seen in a game,it's pathetic.i own the game ,but i dont thnk i've played it more than 3 times. Why bother? Now, Mohaa is starting to get like that. sad state of affairs.also,in-game whining about this and that has hit an all-time high, imho. Hammer

an ATI 8500 is going for around $299 from what i see in my area. Why on earth would you buy that card ,at that price, ATI has had sooooooo many driver issues it aint funny. It probably is a good card ,but ATI cant write drivers,so whats the use? at $299 Y bother with the headaches? Buy a high-end Nvidia card, and save the money u would have spent on Tylenol. =) Hammer

i just built the system below.the H/D's are ATA/66,would it be worth upgrading to a ATA/100 drive? Would i see a big difference in performance? Also, if i got a 80 GIG ATA/100 and also used one of the 40 gig ATA/66, would they run at their rated ATA speeds,or would they both run at ATA/66? Thanks for any help. Hammer
