Problem: Cannot get card to install. have files for driver from Orinoco website to "build a driver" There has to be a better way to do this. Does anyone know of a better way then jumping through the hoops of "building" a driver? or a Desktop wireless card that I can drop in, click a lousy button and go? And yes, I want plug and pray in Linux(simply not viable in a our environment without it) OS: DL version of Mandrake 10 Orinoco PCI Wireless Eth0 card does function and is on network(DNS was a pain, why is there no dynamic registration?) If I didnt have to get this done for a test project I wouldnt do it, but I need 1 linux box on wireless for 802.11 exploit testing. Thanks in advance

I can send you full screen. do you have NTcompatible address?

In terms of the 6 delegated zones necessary for AD, we checked those when we built the new primary zone at each of our domain levels. We run as a "Domain.Domain.Local" structure to keep our DNS internal and forward out to our DMZ forwarder, which then forwards out to our T1 and T3 Provider.

Article KB300684 describes the issues we were having and how it affected our replication process. What started this was a large amount of records needed to be tombstoned/cleaned out. Once those records were no longer present out DC replication died. We then reconstructed A Standard non AD integrated DNS structure on the DC's . AD replication was still failing between DC's located in different child domains. Netdiag and DCdiag would not assist in getting replication going. We applied the article registry fixes, rebooted DC's 1 at a time, and then ran netdiag and DCdiag against them. Once they checked out ok, we forced replication amongst the Boxes. Now our WINS structure has not been touched at all and was not in play in terms of troubles prior to this. Now what we see is machine accounts just poof! Gone! on the client side. The directory still has the account. We at one point thought it was the Time and Kerberos issue but we scripted in the net TIME command into our login process pointing to the enterprise root.

Windows 2000 AD domain. 2000 and XP Clients. Standard Primary DNS Zone recently reinstalled after replication issue with single level Domain and registry fix of our DC's. Client Machines not finding Domain account when logging users in. Have checked DNS,DHCP,WINS registrations and replications. No errors there now. Am seeing mrxsmb errors on client side, by the score, every 2 minutes error logged. Disjoining and rejoining machine to domain restores Netbios Browsing as well. We are seeing this in 20 machines a day. Any ideas?

Ok guys, heres the question, perhaps someone can assist. We're assessing our outside Terminal sessions. RDP traffic over the web. encrytpted to what level? We've set up and implemented ID verification processes, but we're looking at the man in the middle scenario. Any thoughts?

I had something like this with a dlink router and it was with the WINS resolution settings on the desktops. If I pointed the machines to the router for WINS resolution I had connectivity. Without it, I got nothing but 404's. Hope it helps :>

I have 3 XP boxes, 3 W2k boxes and a Couple of Laserjet series II printers on my net. What i find happens, is the Shared Locals of cant be accessed due to the Client machine actually not being logged into the print server. Try this From Client: browse your network and find your file and print server Access a share on the print server, if your asked for a log-in and PW, you know what the problem is. Login and close the window then print, should work fine.

Help! System runs horrible and I've tried everything
harplayer replied to NaughtyNu's topic in Customization & Tweaking
What errors are you gettin in the event viewer? Have you set up some counters? Who's Mobo? What Via drivers are you using? all that comes into play...Also try installing the OS on a freshly delpart.exe performed Western Digital drive, Create a partition with a 98 boot fdisk and install XP there. Delpart.exe the maxtor, create a partition there and move the pagefile to that drive only. I'm betting that the maxtor is a CompScrewUSAll drive. They never run right for me as system drives, I believe their cache set-up has something to do with it 8) 8) -
ASUS A7M266 + SB Audigy = audio skipping (WinXP)
harplayer replied to Shin_Magus's topic in Hardware
I ran XP RC2 and XP PRO on 2 identical systems, and am currently running on 3rd system. No matter what I tried, I still get audio lag under loads 1/2 of the W2K installations on these machines Machine 1 & 2 Abit KT7A 1.2 GHZ 512 MB Ram Machine 1 768 MB Ram Machine 2 Hercules Game Theatre Both Machines Geforce 2 GTS cards Mirrored Western Digital 7200 RPM Storage Single Western Digital 7200 RPM OS Pagefile.sys moved to Mirrors Pagefile.sys erasure disabled Turtle Beach Santa Cruz installed when problems failed to go away, VIA patched accomplished nothing except create BSOD Abit Bios Upgrade cooked one board (sitting in box waiting for me to attempt to waste time on it. Solution: went back to W2K on the remaining KT7A, rock solid ever since, 20 days nonstop operation under heavy load Third Machine Asus A7v133 1.2 GHZ NOT overclocked 768 MB RAM Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Driver 4142 Creative Labs Geforce 2 GTS Microsoft WHQL drivers 2 7200 RPM drives : NO mirrors Pagefile moved to non OS drive Drive Defragged with the Diskeeper demo ALL XP MS patches installed ASUS bios 1007 and Promise bios 42 ACPI disabled Running Default VIA Still have the problem So, to make a long story short, I don't think the Audigy is the problem, I've done the IRQ thing, the card slot swap thing , even done the different vendor of card thing, and still no solution. But just to acknowledge the chipset used by Hercules and Turtle Beach is the same chipset...maybe the problem is there
