lol, dude if ur house is 41 degrees, i think u should worry more bout buying a fan for ur house. Im sure u could fry eggs on ur bench top with temps that high..lol i read an story once on the net bout a guy who fryed an egg on his athlon 1.2gig cpu...he made a foil tray and placed it on top of the cpu and played quake 3 for awhile and sure enuff the egg was done and just in time for breakfast hehe..hey that could be the future of home innovations. Cook breakfast, lunch and dinner, use it for a water heater and warn ya home in winter with a single cpu...could save u a **** load of money from yearly expenses hehehe. Second thought jdulmage, buy some more cpu fans...i think i can smell ur puter melting.

I think its all rockstars fault gta3 is so F*$%ed...its had nothing but problems with it since its release. U go to any tech site or forum and people r asking for help on getting the prick to run smoothly or even at all, most nvidia chipset cards dont work very well...all u get is missing scenery and major lag time thru all of the game. Like 1 minute it will be running smooth as ice...next its like ur running it on a 486 with 2 mb of ram...rockstar really needs to test their games before releasing them...or they will end up like windows 2000 and needing to add service pack after service pack to get it running like it should...well thats my 2 cents.

hey does any1 know how to resume files from yahoo groups? im having a bugger of a time downloading files....it will download bout 95% of a file then it will stop downloading and i will hafta restart from the beginning....really starting to get on my nerves??????????

I had a intel 233mhz MMX cpu and 64mb of PC-66 ram and 4 gig ATA33 harddrive and it only took 50 seconds at the most to boot win xp pro to the desktop....on a decent machine like an athlon xp 1700+, 256mb should take win xp bout 30 to 40 seconds to boot up I say take ur puter back and get a refund.....best bet when upgrading or buying a new computer.....get it custom built with hardware and specs that u will use for general tasks etc....if u play alot of 3d intensive games like alien vs predator 2.....get something like a amd athlon xp with windows xp...and minimum of 256mb ddr ram....or if ya just doing video editing and stuff....go for a pentium 4

SP1 beta seems to work fine so far, had no problems with xp pro and dirextx 9 beta installed...

Yea i find gta 3 slow as on my puter using either dx8 or dx9...i think dx9 runs faster. Although im running an AMD xp 1700+ and 256mb ram and got a TNT2 32mb....fast as gta 3 will run is bout 10 or less fps in 3rd person view in some areas of the map...generally on the outside of the city... but if i change view to birds eye view it still runs pretty slow for a fast puter. Any one know why this is so....the readme file says with nvidia + windows xp u need the updated d3d8.dll file which is part of the SP1 or i think its on the update site as standby and hibination update....but what i have tryed to play of gta 3....it KICKS ***!!!

i got a MSi 6330 mobo and an xp 1700+ and pc133 ram running windows xp and office xp and i have not had one problem with my system....my cpu with cooling is usually around 48 to 53c, but with office xp i only have word and outlook express installed...so maybe it has to do with one of the other office programs like excel or access etc....

Try turning on UDMA under Device Manager for your harddrives and if u only have 1 IDE harddrive connected to Primary IDE channel and your CDROM connected to your Secondary IDE channel....turn off AUTO DETECT IDE DEVICES that will speed up your boot time.

depends on if u have PC100mhz rated ram or PC133mhz, if running PC100 u will probably only end up running ur amd 1700+ at 1100ghz, or if running PC133 ram it will run at 1.47ghz with my board i hafta change a jumper pin on the board it self to run at 133mhz (MSI 6330 motherboard)or the default setting is 100mhz FSB.
