Uncheck auto-select in the same Encoding drop down.

Most people I know buy a UPS after they lose hardware to surges. Make sure that in the future you don't just protect the power line, but also the phone line and coax cable as well. Get a good APC UPS for each computer. Most of those power strips are worthless for protection, especially the cheaper ones.

I've been using Outlook Express for email at home since I got Win95 in 1996. I still have every email since then, and my address book too. I've carried them over from Win95 to Win98, Win98SE, Win2k, and now WinXP. There's one folder to back up for the emails, and one file for the address book. And Diskeeper 7 - Never had a problem with it yet.

What error page do you see in IE when it doesn't connect? What is the error number? Did you install the software that came with your dsl? Or are you using default windows IE, pppoe, etc. Read this article and see if it sounds familiar.

Quote: And as for the idiot who suggests goto add/remove programs to remove IE, ROFLOL !!!!!! Maybe if your brains weren't made of lager you would bother to check your facts before insulting people like a screaming 2 year old. What I mean is explain yourself in a mature manner. Namecalling and yelling at people will not get anyone to take you seriously. You're just branded as "another bored 13 year old to be ignored." Here, pay close attention, let me show you: Sorry Alien, but all that method does is remove access to IE via shortcuts. It removes your shortcuts to it. The little description at the bottom of the window tells you this when you highlight that option. IE has been highly integrated into Windows and is a requirement for Active Desktop, many Windows Explorer functions, etc. You could find other ways to remove IE, but it would cause much more trouble than it's worth. See how easy it is to be an adult pilsner_head?

I'm waiting for the day when Bill Gates' head appears on the screens of every desktop in the world simultaneously, with an evil laugh and a grin saying "Now I finally have you all! muhahahahaha! Submit to me or be destroyed!"

This is the one I like. http://www.nvrt.net It modifies the registry and does not stay memory resident. I'm using the NVIDIA official 28.32 drivers and it works great. It's supposed to work up to 29.40.

1. Read through this article to learn how to integrate SP2 into your W2k CD. After you make the CD, use it when SFC asks for it. 2. Add that to the long list of start menu/explorer bugs that have haunted Windows since 1995. The reason annoying little bugs like this are in every version since then is to make people want the new improved version when it comes out, which contains the same bugs in a fuzzier gui.

It's the Pi build, hehe.

Make sure all drivers in your system are up to date, not just the video card's. Expecially mobo chipset drivers. If the problem persists despite systemwide driver updates, try another type of vcard. The card may be bad, or just incompatible with another part of your system. If other cards also fail to work there could be something wrong other that the vcard, such as bad memory, chipset, overheating, etc.
-
With a new motherboard, you normally have to format to get everything running like you should. You could probably get the system to boot by running a full repair install or just doing a full install over the os that's there now. Either way and you will probably have to reinstall some drivers and applications after, but your documents and stuff should still be there. Personally, I would just format and start over, assuming you have good recent backups.

NEWSFLASH: All markers and tape will now have a $10 surcharge to compensate RIAA because every citizen who buys them is a pirate!

All the ideas for novels, comics, games and such commercial copyrighted Star Wars fiction are approved by Lucas. He is very strict with how other authors can use the rules of the force, and what can happen to the major characters and places. He has had his story written for himself since 1975, all 9 episodes, and he has taken steps to make sure none of these other stories impede upon or conflict with his episodes that are yet to come. I'm sure he will take a break for a few years after episode 3. To my knowledge he has not specified lately if or when he will start on episode 7,8,9. Allow 3 years for each of those after his break, and the 3 years to wait for episode 3, and they should all be done in about 12-15 years from now! The other problem is that the guy is 58 years old now. If he goes by this hypothetical schedule, he would have to live to at least 73 to finish telling his story. Talk about a lifetime achievment - 40 years making Star Wars movies!!! p.s. - I just saw the movie again today. Did anyone else manage to spot the Millenium Falcon? As Anakin and Padme were first arriving on Naboo, descending in the ship, you can see the MF parked on the ground way to the left on the screen! And I want Dooku's lightsaber, it's a cool design!

Quote: Can anyone tell me the names of 3,7,8 & 9. Those exist only in George Lucas' mind at this point.

You get built in motion blur on every LCD! But I think this looks really cool. The more tools, the better.

On the Display Properties Settings tab, click Advanced, then select the Adapter tab, then click the All Modes button. Pick the resolution and color depth you want from the list and click ok.

Quote: I would imagine his WAN port would be set to use DHCP to get IP info from his ISP. Yes, I figured that. It's just yucky that the router can't handle different subnet masks on each subnet, because that subnet mask limits him to what, 2 devices per subnet? Yech!
-
Did you go into Device Manager and disable the cheapy, worthless Intel embedded chip before installing the other video cards?
-
Congrats Hykster! Maybe the routers LAN subnet mask is applied to the WAN port as well? Can you change the two independently or is there only one subnet mask you can set that applies to all ports, lan and wan. At least it works. I wouldn't screw with it anymore unless MSN tries something else to prevent you from actually using your connection.

Call @home and ask them what the deal is. After about 6 hours you might get to talk to someone who has a clue there.

Just ignore comments like those from evilhomer. Don't let him bait you into that old stupid debate. This forum stands out from so many others by the lack of flame wars, and the members continuing to post intelligent threads. I haven't always had a perfect legit software record, but I don't believe in lame excuses either, or bickering like 10 year olds over what is right and wrong.

What I get from the article is that the leaked key that Dell used, and some other leaked keys, will be blacklisted in SP-1. So what does this mean to all the people who have a Dell computer with XP on it? Surely they can't just screw over a bunch of legit users. What are you going to do if your legit key no longer works with SP-1? Do you have to call MS and jump through their hoops yet again with their product activation crap to desperately prove that your copy is legit? The way I see it, the legal customers are getting hurt the most. The pirates will have a hack or new key out within days I'm sure. In the end MS will have disabled more legit users than pirates with this. I understand their frustration though, it's hard to fight so much piracy.
