    "Download for Internet Explorer 5.5"

Does anyone know of a site that I can download the full version of IE 5.5?. All the links I have tried through Google lead me either to broken links or to the iesetup.exe file which fails also. I guess Microsoft removed it from their site. Thx in advance
  3. Much Better!!!......... .........Thx DS3Circuit!!!. I finally have everything configured to my likeing. I really appreciate all the help everyone!!. Take Care.
  4. Hey guys.....Thx for all the help...I really appreciate it. I just have one more question. The "Remote Desktop Connection" software that comes with Windows XP.......Is there a way to get this to work on Windows 2000 to connect to a 2000 Server. I know that you guys know what I'm talking about.....when you connect either to Windows XP Pro or a .Net Server machine from an XP machine there is a grayish box at the top center of the desktop. This would be much better than the TSClient that I am running for Win2000. Hope I dont sound like an idiot.......... ;(
  5. Hey guys, I guess I need to rephrase my question. I have a domain set up on the server, with myself set up as a "Domain Administrator" account to connect to from my 2000 Pro machine. When I log onto the server with this account.....how do I get the programs that are installed ONLY on the server(Office 2000 for example) to show up on my desktop(2000 Pro Client) to be run as network applications?. How do i run these apps over the network only and not have to install them locally?. Thx in advance. By the way, Terminal Services did work...but it did not produce the results as I had expected. It had a TS window open showing the Server desktop. At school, when we log on with our account......all we have is one desktop window showing.... and the shortcuts on the desktop and Start menu for various applications that we have installed on one of our servers that are made available to us....Word,Excel,Powerpoint,Outlook,....etc. What am I missing here?. Thx again.
  6. Thx for the help guys. I haven't had a chance to fool with it anymore lately because of my Cisco and Win 2000 Active Directory finals that I have been studying for. But, they are over with now so I will have time to experiment and screw stuff up too....... . I may post back with some more questions. I really appreciate all the help so far!!....
  7. Hey guys, sorry it took me so long to reply. Ok, here is what I have done so far: 1. I installed Office 2000 per the Microsoft Support's website implementing the TermSrvr.mst file. All went well there. 2. I made the 2 Terminal Client Services 32-bit install disks and installed them on my Windows 2000 Pro client computer while I was logged onto the domain that I have created and joined with no problems. I setup my account as a Domain Administrator with Full Permissions by the way. Now.....What do I do next?. Do I need to go into the "Terminal Services Client" application on my Windows 2000 Pro client that I loaded the software from the two disks on and configure it?. I know I sound like an idiot.....but this is new to me.....and I really want to learn how to do this. My goal is to be able to connect to my domain that I have created and run applications such as Office, use my printer on the server, and other applications implementing Terminal Services. This is the way our school is setup. When we logon to our accounts at school...applications are available for us to run off of the server....without them being actually installed locally on every individual machine. To run games, I will log onto my Windows 2000 client computer through my local account and run those. I hope this makes sense to you guys...... ;( . Guess I wasn't too good at explaining exactly what I want to do in my previous post.
  8. Like I said.....I am running in Application Server Mode. The client is a Windows 2000 Pro machine. I want to install applications ONLY on the server and be able to run them from the client machine.....instead of running them locally on the client. In other words.....install applications on the server and run them from the server. I have installed Office 2000 on the server using the instructions per Microsoft's website.....per Terminal Services Application Server Mode. My question is.....How do I actually run the applications from the server?. In other words, should shortcuts have been created to the Office programs when I logged onto the server?. I have been studying Networking in school, but they have neglected to cover Terminal Services. I would like to install applications like Office, my printer(which works fine already being connected to the server) and others. I am just not sure how they should be run from the client......Should shortcuts have been created?....Do I need to create them manually?. ANY help would be appreciated........Thx!!.

    "My Pictures" Screensaver

Does anyone know where to get the "My Pictures" screensaver that is included in ME and XP?. It's not included in Windows 2000, which I am running. If not, does anyone know where to get one similiar to it for free?........Thx in advance.
  10. I am trying to disable the logon screen in Windows 2000 to keep it from coming up and logging on automatically. Can someone tell me how to do this?.....Thx in advance.

Hey....thx for the tip...Yes...I DO want it to "Autologin".......but this is for Windows 2000......not for XP

Just bought a Radeon 9700 Pro....

This card is nothing short of AWESOME!!!. The speed and image quality is INCREDIBLE!!. I have been an Nvidia user for a long time and was hesitant about buying this card. Nevertheless, I am very surprised at the speed this thing possesses. My 3DMark went from 8000 to 12249!!. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking to upgrade......

    GeForce 3 Upgrade Question.....

I'm considering upgrading to a Geforce 4 Ti 4600 from my current video card, which is a first generation GeForce 3.....not a Ti200 or a Ti500. My question is, would I see a noticeable difference in speed?. I just bought a new game....RallySport Challenge by Microsoft and it appears that the video card is choking. I should have plenty enough processor speed to run this game very smoothly. I was just wondering what you guys think. Thx

Does this utility allow you to disable the 60Hz refresh rate problem for OpenGL games in WinXP?. If so, could someone tell me how to do it. Thx.

Just bought a Radeon 9700 Pro....

I know my 3Dmarks should be higher. I dont know why it isn't.... . I have a decent motherboard and am running XP Home. Maybe its like I said above......I just have a piece of $hit!!. P.S..........typo below... 3. My original score was using a P4 2.26 Ghz. I now have a 2.53 that I got a few days ago. My benchmark has now gone to 13,429 3Dmarks with DX9 installed plus the Catalyst 3.0 drivers. Should have been 12,429

Just bought a Radeon 9700 Pro....

Any ideas why the Radeon 9700 is more expensive than the 4600 then, everyones system that has this card outruns my system, 3dmark scores for frame rates and quality. Obviously you arent getting what you should from this card. You also said 25mhz isnt much higher, but it is still higher and this card has better technology and has 8pipe lines rather than 4 on the GF4. I am getting 600 points more which is a lot more. If i clock my CPU back to 2.53 i still get 12712 points. You also said that an xp 2000+ outperforms a 2ghz P4, does this mean you are suggesting that the GF4 outperforms the Radeon, in this case everyone should save there money and go for the faster Gf4 "Any ideas why the Radeon 9700 is more expensive than the 4600 then" 1. It is more expensive because it is cutting edge technology. Why not spend $100 more(basing this on Circuit City prices) and get a Radeon with better technology and DX9 support?. This card will be good for a good while simply because of the DX9 support. "Obviously you arent getting what you should from this card." 2. What should I be getting?. I am running no tweaks on this system at all. Everything is at the defaults. I tried a GF4 for a while, and it didn't come anywhere near the speed or quality of the Radeon. I am not dissin' Nvidia....I have been a loyal user of many Nvidia cards for several years now. But, like I said above, my decision to go with a Radeon was based on performance, longevity, and negligible price difference. "If i clock my CPU back to 2.53 i still get 12712 points." 3. My original score was using a P4 2.26 Ghz. I now have a 2.53 that I got a few days ago. My benchmark has now gone to 13,429 3Dmarks with DX9 installed plus the Catalyst 3.0 drivers. "You also said that an xp 2000+ outperforms a 2ghz P4, does this mean you are suggesting that the GF4 outperforms the Radeon, in this case everyone should save there money and go for the faster Gf4" 4. An XP 2000+ DOES outperform a P4 2Ghz. No, that is not what I am suggesting. If the Radeon and the GF4 were run at the same core and memory speeds the Radeon would still win because of the technology advancements....just as the XP2000+ whips the Pentium 4 2Ghz. Just go to http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/20020819/radeon9700-13.html and compare the results for yourself. Also, read this conclusion on the comparison of the GF4 and the Radeon 9700 Pro at http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/20020819/radeon9700-28.html I do agree with you though that MY 3DMark scores should be higher than they are. I dont know, maybe I just have a piece of $hit computer.....lol. At any rate, I am happy with the Radeon. Have a good Christmas.

Just bought a Radeon 9700 Pro....

If you look in my profile you will see my 3dmark, i aint saying anything bad but i aint impressed with that score for a 9700 radeon on your system. RAM and processor give next nothing for 3dmarks, especially with a radeon being so much higher clock rates than the Ti4600 (mine is at stock speeds) i would of expected much higher than what i have. How do you figure that a Radeon 9700 is clocked "so much higher than the Ti4600"?. Here are the numbers: Radeon 9700 Pro: GPU clock- 325Mhz Memory clock- 620 Mhz GeForce Ti4600: GPU clock- 300Mhz Memory clock- 650Mhz 25Mhz is not "so much higher in my book". The memory is clocked 30 Mhz higher on your Ti4600 also. It's not the clock speed of the GPU or the memory that make this card stand out....it's the technology behind it. For example.....How does a AMD XP 2000+ outperform a Pentium 4 2GHZ?....Is it the clock speed?. Certainly not with the XP 2000 being clocked at 1.667Ghz. It's the underlying technology. Happy Holidays everyone!!....

    Performance of DX9 with GF4

No problems to report here. All my games work just fine. Also using the Catalyst 3.0 drivers.
  20. I just bought a Radeon 9700 Pro video card and I need a refresh rate utility to overcome the 60Hz limitation in Windows XP for OpenGL games. Can someone recommend a good one and give me a link to it?. Thx
  21. Does anyone know of a website that explains about setting up a server regarding Active Directory and creating a domain? Unfortunately, my course on Active Directory in school is next quarter and I was hoping to practice some over the holidays. Any help would be appreciated....Thx.

  23. After buying this game several days ago...right off the bat I was having problems with the game stuttering VERY BADLY at several points in the game. Some tracks were worse than others. I visited the EA forum and noticed that everyone else was having the same problem on different machines. I read one guy's post that he tried the Detonator 40.72's and the problem went away. So, after trying several different things to no avail, I decided to give them a try. Once I tried them, all of the stuttering went away....the game now runs as it should. Just thought some of you with this game and an NVIDIA card might be interested in this info. Good Luck!

HELP, concerning games with QUAKEIII engine

"As close to a fresh install I can do is, format and install 98SE, then update with XP Pro. For some reason (even with bios changes) my system won't boot the versions of XP Pro and 2000 Pro from cd." Download the WinXP setup floppy disks from Microsoft's website. That will save you from having to upgrade from 98SE. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q310994
