unless you have a gig of ram, your going to run into issues with the pagefile. You need to have a minimum of ram, or better yet 1.5 of ram for the pagefile. weather you have 128 megs of ram or 512 you page to disk. and it needs this space or youll see major issues. Just ran into this on a profession dv editing station. had to convince them that the small page was casuing the issues, and theyy increased it to the amount of ram in the pc, and all issues we resolved.

want to see performance, move it to another volume. It will remove lag of an overworked operating volume (trust me ive crashed every ms os in tweaking and this is the best yet)

uhhhhh.. common guys here now. XP is the most bad assed thing to come in recent memeory. configuration is a bit much but if you like to play, and like to tweak and configure its the best. If you want to crash and swear use se, if you want to be an over rated nt4 usr use win2k. If you want to be a fool use winme (now thats a joke)

thats not the issue. Go into the device manager, open up your primary and secondary ide controllers. In advance, deselect autodetection. you will se your start jump up to 20 - 30 secs. btw zone alarm sucks. Why use a firewall anyway. software fw suck too, get a card with those capabilities
