A guy fdisked a drive(ntfs) and it turns out it has years of photos on it he would like to get back. How can I recover the partition? No data has been written to the disk since that time. Program suggestion to o it would be appreciated. I've used norton disk doctor in the past for fat32, which worked great, but ive not tried it with NTFS.

I mounted an ntfs driver in the empty folder f:\Games. Now I can never delete any folder from the volume. Both disks and folders have Everyone full control. ?!?!? Any ideas? (I get the access denied, the folder may be in use blah blah for every folder I try to delete.)

I;'ve got the ultima collection and I cant get ultima 8 to run. it comes with a bootdisk maker that supposedly makes dos boot with enough ram for the game, but it hasnt worked for me. I have tried using win98 dos, but gave that up and installed actual dos 6.22 in a virtual PC whichis the native environment for the game. i downloaded a dos mouse driver that they say is the smallest ram usage of all mouse drivers, a few K short of the microsoft ouse driver, setup the config.sys just like the manual says to, and I still ont have enough memory. it will start when i dont load a mouse driver, which shows that I am almost there. Unfortunately, a mouse is REQUIRED fo r the game. If someone who has played this game cam post the eact configuration that works it would be greatly appreciated. I checked out dosbox but it did not suppport it(somehting about protected mode not supported yet) when I went there.

i got my snazzy new Dual AMD rig, 2x2600+ MP, 768 MB ram. Ati 8500 LE 128 MB @ 250/250. 3Dmark 2001SE build 330(latest) with DX9. I score 8450 (default unregistered benchmark) Seems low to me. Anyone else with 8500LE 128 MB, or other scores on similar hardware can comment?

I bougt an identical disk as my c: partition and installed the new drive. I instaled the drive onto a USB 2.0 external enclosure. now in disk management, i can't upgrade the disk to dynamic. WHY? This is preventing me from making my mirror.

A VRM is a voltage regulitoin module, designed to be a scam for server purchasers. the mobo does not come with it and they can charge extra $ for it when you wanna go dual. I would assume it regulated the voltage... If you need one try the manufacturwer website. If its discontinued try ebay.

My bd I meant to say XP Pro can do raid 1, XP home cannot. Only the windows servers can do raid 1 and 5 wth software.

if I was buying one of these 2 today, oit'd be ATI by a long shot. Ownage in pixel shader, ownage in dieect3d games. not so good in opengl, but plenty strong anyways. I dont see pixel shader 3 suport as being any value. by the time games come out using it, it will be time for a new card anyways.

this is one amazing piece of work. Pixel shader 1.3 required, gf4 mx 440 users can't run it. Fully 3d, high poly count, lighting effects etc. It has to be seen to be believed. here is the big picture. 1) Win2000 and Xp pro can do raid-0 with softare. Xp home can't. 2) Using windows software raid, you can't boot off it 3) If you want to boot off it you must use hardware raid, whether its an addon card or if your builtin controlers will handle it. 4) I highly recommend you don't do it, unless you have a regular tape backup or something backing up all your data al the time.

No problem, it is a true mirror, so it is every bit as good as a regular disk.

Easy peezy, probably. I ran into sme issue with an HP server. In my case, it needed a VRM (voltage regulation module) Bought directly from hp for the bios to see the cpu. You probably have the same isue.

Withut dfs yo'd just do \\computername\sharename, the doain isnt needed because each machine will have it's own name. (You don't name machines the same in your network, it would be chaos.) I'm not saying for sure it can't be done, as I have not actually tried.

To get a domain share working, instead of \\computername\share, you'll need to implement DFS. (Distributed filesystem) I've not set that up myself perhaps someone else can toss a bone here.

You will have to install, install active directory, then move the fsmo roles to it. No way to install and make it a PDC emulator otherwwise. You also can't make it an emulated BDC either.

Each computer may be having more than one conection. netbios chatter for example, or an opened named pipe for before, combined with anothe file transer, so they can equal more than 10. the connections are counted for any file or print services, plus any use authentication. FTP/HTTP are not bound to this 10 connection limit, but they are bound to a totally other 10 conection limit based specifically on the protocols use\d. (http and ftp) On windows servers anonymous access does not count towards a user account.
