the 137 gig barrier does not apply here. it only pplies to a single disk that is larger than 137 gig. 2 80 gigs striped is fine. Don't forget, yuo can use your raid controller as regular ide channels, not in raid mode, so you need not disable them if you dont wanna run raid. If youd o run raid 0 i must say have a god backup. i just had a 160 gig raid 0 die on me, one drive failed, and uckily i got them back online just long enough to get the data off. there was about 24 hours of captured video on there that I am going to make dvd's of.

It will install and run, that's for sure, ubt using default drivers. For enhanced performance, and perhaps fixes for isues that may arise, you will want proper signed 2003 server drivers. All you can do is squak at AMD and gigabyte to provide proper drivers. I woult not pt 2000 or xp drivers on it, that's for sure. (I've been running the amd 760 MPX chipset (dual amd 2600+ MP) for some time now on windows 2000 and it has been great. (pecifically the asus a7m266-d)

Raid pretty costly? Mobo with raid support, 100-150$ hard drive, 30-40 gig, 50$ each. Cheap.

dcxman I've not tried this in a domain model, but I would guess that it would probably toast the whole setup. This of course, is just a guess. Give it a shot and let us know

Using analog output, your Sub must have it's own builtin crossover. Perhaps the crossover in your sub is just not very good. It's not the card's fault.

the best method is just to use both. Raid won't help for file deletion, but the USB will. Raid 1 however will keep the system runing in case of failure/backup in one. For the price of hard drives now and mobo with raid builin, I would suggest anybody using their machine for any type of production use raid 1 and or 5.

Here's the scoop. 2 nt 4 machines, pdc and bdc. A windows 2000 member file server. \\2k\data\SMITH The data folder has share permission of everyone full control, and ntfs permission of the SMITH directory has full control for SMITH and domain admins. All machines have netbeui and TCP/IP with netbios enabled. I log on a win98 workstation as SMITH from a win98 machine. I browse into \\2k\data, but get ACCESS denied when I try to go into the SMITH directory itself. I log on to a different win98 machine, and I can browse right into the SMITH directory without issues and all is well. The machines that work for access work every time, the machines that deny when logged onto them deny every time. I don't understand how I can get in from some 98 machines and not others when they are all logging onto the domain. Isues of note the PDC used to be a windows 2000 server, but died and was replaced with an NT 4 server (promoted the bdc, reinstalled the new nt server and promoted to pdc after replicating the SAm database and what not. To make sure there were no issues, I had the windows 2000 server leave the domain, and rejoin the nt 4 domain fresh. I've been searching the web for solutions and have not found anything yet.

For all those interested, I gotit worked out. It was a combination of errors which I still cannot explain. Long story short I upgraded thePDC to Windows 2000 Server again. The Windows 2000 File server I had to leave the domain (and delete the account from active directory) and rejoin the domain fresh. It took a good hour tomake this work. (When the 2000 member server would try tojoin the domain, it would prompt for password and username to add to the domain, but then after that it would say there was no domain. After many attempts it joined. All was still not well though. 3 remaining 98 workstations still gave the access denied message fgr user SMITH but SMITH could get into his directory from all the rest. Turns out the networking on those 3 98 workstations were all whack. The network settings all looked good, but I arbitrarily removed all networking and reinstalled the nic driver fresh. After this, badaBOOM all was fixed.

Windows 2000 and 2003 require that you run a DNS server on your network, it can be the local machine or another machine. you also must have an NTFS partition too.

2 explorer.exe running?or more>hi apk and dosfreak:)
duhmez replied to norm's topic in Everything New Technology
Launching each folder window in its own process won't open extra explorer.exe's. they just open a new thread in explorer.exe. To verify this, open task manager right click the task bad>task manager. Then click view>select columns.Put a checkbox in "thread count" NMow you can see the thread count of each process. -
Contact intel for a verison that supports windows 2003.

1) install DVD-Ram drive. 2) install bundled DVD-Ram driver. 3) Read disk.

You can use APK NT tools. The tool in question is the background Daemon process engine that it comes with. You run the little app, then you choose the program you want to run it with(Kazaa) it will then run invisibly, and it will only appear on the processes tab of ask manager, not the programs tab. So what you do is, fire up kazaa, queue up all the goodness, close kazaa, then run it invisible. As you know, kazaa will autoconect and resume for you automagicaly in the background. Alecstaar from these very forums s the author, if you search the msg board here for his nick there should be link to the toolset in his signature.

All DV Cams record at a max of 720x480(NTSC) or 720x576 if you are in pal Land(Europe) The #1 feature to lok for, is Progressive Scan Dv recording. Without progressive scan you videos turn to crap when you edit them. Some cameras SCAM consumers by touting progressive as an option, but it's only enabled when you take a snapshot PICTURE. Watch out. progressive means each frame of 720x480 is a complete picture, eqch one is 1/29.97 of a second apart. Interlaced takes 2, 360x240 pictures every 1/60th of a second, and merges the 2. Progressive will cost more but IMO totally worth it.

stand alone computer running nt won't boot fter doing update
duhmez replied to gupgup1's topic in Everything New Technology
NT doesn't have safe mode. GOod luck, Not much can be done with NT when it goes down. Boot from the CD and try emergency repair, and or press space for last known good configuration. Odds are you are hooped and will just need to reinstall. -

[EMERGENCY] The IIS Admin Service service terminated

............. Rebooting the server kills code red, it doesnt write to the hard disk, only resident in memory. -
Quote: I think OpenOffice is a little too big just to convert a file ..... Not true, and here is why. Openoffice is free, free cost, banner free, spyware free. PDF's are patent encumbered and finding a free program to create them is not easy to do. So IMO, Openoffice is the best so far.

Dumping into virtual memory is handled by windows and not firebird. if this is the issu, not much you can do except for grab gobs more ram and disable swapfile.

Does such a thing exist? I tried ntfsdos but there is not enough memory to run ntfsdos and virus scan at the same time. -
Software to virus scan a hard drive offline (NTFS)?
duhmez replied to duhmez's topic in Everything New Technology
I can put it in another machine and scan it, but that's the whole point, the desire to scan it without having to take it out and ut in another pc.
