Try AVG antivirus. it's free for personal use, for 1 PC. www.grisoft.com

I am the savior! HJsplit. http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/ it will split any binary file regardless of type, and make a little batchfile that will rejoin them. All major OS supported.

try having all your drives set to auto just to be safe. Run ghost from dos, that's all it can natively see the ntfs partiitons. It can't SAVE to ntfs partition, it can just create image from it.

And being unindexable it will most likely be useless for your purposes! M$ wants you to buy SQl server!

Re: Making a 9500 a 9700: the firmware upgrade makes it so it behaves exactly like a 9700. The 9500 has some features crippled (I think 4 texture paths instead of 8. or something) and it makes the ati driver think the card really is a 9700. So install driver, and it does 9700 driver, including clock speed. Of course the higher speed ram and gpu may not work right because it's not rated to run that high, but people do it all the time without issues. Do it at your own risk. Ill post a link later about all the info.

Or, the fatsest way. Rght click my computer>manage. then click device manager.

APK, if you just download the highspeed link to the drivers, then you get it all in one package, like nvidia. The broken up bits are for convienience of slow bandwidth users. Goto www.rage3d.com to learn eveyrthing you need to know about tweaking these. Did you know, with a firmware upgrade, you can change a 9500PRo into a full, real, 9700 pro?

for most compatibility you probably need to have passive ftp enabled. (IE will use passive by default) If your server is behind a router/firewall, this may not be possible, unless you run it DMZ.

This is tested and confirmed on winxp SP1, and windows 2000 service pack 4. Note tha I am referring to explorer, NOT internet explorer. Same problem when I save a page using mozilla..... . Do this. ON this page or any webpage, click file save as: web page complete. Then you will have an html file and a folder, in my exmple the folder "NT Compatible_files" Now, delete said folder. Watch the parallel HTML file disappear too! What's up with this! Also, if you shift del the folder, the html gets shift deleted too!

MAJOR explorer bug, check this out(Reproducable)
duhmez replied to duhmez's topic in Everything New Technology
Quote: This is not a bug, but a "feature". Explorer somehow gets told that those files are related when you save as html from IE. I thought of this too. So as a test, I tried it with saving from mozilla. Same result! This is not a *feature* I want around! Why I found out about this: My brother was working on a webpage for work. After hours of work, and much editing, finally the folder only had 2 bmp ifles in it, and they were NOT needed for anything. Here comes the nasty part. He SHIFT+Deleted the folder, then BOOM the html got shift deleted too. Off he ran and bought an undeleter for 50$ or somehitng, and got much of the work back(saved alot of hours) Homeboy was FUMING. This happened last week. Now today, I see APK post of this great undeleter that's free. I showed him and LMAO @ him. I know I sure as hell don't want my OS interface deciding for me which files should be deleted................. Re: CHM I have used them too for video encoding guides ( www.doom9.org has the best ones ) but I am afraid of them being windows only, or microsoft only format. I would only want to use them if I can find out who owns the patent on them and if they are open source, or open standard. (You won't find any wmv files within 100 meters of my house for this reason) -
Yup. Netlimiter.

Did a forced push install from sav server onto win98 client. downloaded a test virus file in a zip. Not detected as zip until unzipped. Something I am missing?

All I can say is you should Nuke the smeggar to oblivion. ONe swift knee in the happy sacks and it'll drop like anyone else. Then restore from backup. Otherwise go throught all the users permisisons and delegations and hope for the best (if security isn't a big issue that is)

MS Released a floppy based corrupt Registry Repair Utility
duhmez replied to Christianb's topic in Customization & Tweaking
At least the registry is really easy to backup on an already dead machine... oh wait No it isn't....... no xcopy from recovery console. No access outside of \ and %systemroot% by default no saving files to floppy..... (for fixing boot.ini etc..... not for the registry per se) No txt editor. I look and the recovery console, and look at the price tag of the server software, and I shake my hed in disbelief. Then a 6 floppy registry repairer comes out.... Does no one at m$ USE their products? Go ahead, try to copy a file from the hard drive to a floppy. can't be done. Windows recovery has got a long way to go that's for sure. -
If you wish to capture uncompressed use the huffyuv codec. it is a lossless codec, and I often get a 3:1 compression. Major MAJOR filesize difference. Capping right to mpeg2 is fine, unless you wich to edit the video afterwards, like adding effects. also cutting/joining already made mpeg is not alot of fun. Womble mpeg2vcr people say cuts and joins mpeg2 files without reencoding very well. ive not tried it yet. I have been using huffyuv. (352,480 capture) prepare the video in avisynth, and finally encode.

Upgrade Windows 2000 advanced server, to "Windows server enterprise 2003 120 day evaluation" Before I wasted my time, wondering if this will work? I'd like to upgrde this here 2000 advanced server to ent 2003 trial. I'd like to know beforehand before I image the machine and sit through the whole setup. I don' t care about it baing an eval because I can image back later. -
Sharing broadband on multiple NT/2k/XP PCs
duhmez replied to Curley_Boy's topic in Everything New Technology
Still you need netbios. Using lmhosts isn't necessary when behind a router like that. External netbios probes will fail, as thenrouter does not use netbios. If you want to disabel netbios anyways, goto the wins tab of advanced tcpip properties then check "disable netbios over tcpip" Then make a file called lmhosts with no extension it goes into \windows\system32\drivers\etc and it will look like this 192.168.0.2 main 192.168.0.3 gaming 192.168.0.4 server then when you map \\server\share itll bind to 192.168.0.4 etc. Also make sure "lmhosts lookup" is enabled in advanced tcpip properties>wins. (It will be by default anyways) -
http://www.borland.com/ should have a free 30 day trual there.

Forget all this about ntfsdos to use ghost! ghost can natively image NTFS drives, no problem. At least from ghost 2001 and up. (Those are the ons I have used.) Just run ghost.exe from dos and choose your drive. If it doesnt see the drive then this is liekly the cause: Your drive is set to "none" in the bios. When set to none, w000/XP will still see the drive but dos wont. So make sure the drive shows up in bios and you are good to go. It doesnt need corperate version, it doesnt require a "special ghost bootdisk" either, just a win98 standard boot disk and ghost.exe will do.

Do you need logging? Do you need to restrict access based on users or groups? Do you need to have more than 5 clients copnecting? If the answer to all these 3 questions is no, then 2000 or XP or 2003 Internet conection sharing will work perfectly...... Proxy 2.0 is the old m$ one, the new one is called ISA server. cost a fortune. (unless you have it handy already....... might wanna check out www.sygate.com also www.nat32.org
