I dunno if this was posted, but why don't we have avatars anymore?
-
ok, ok i got it It was curiosity, you people are right, but i needed to know your point of view about it.
-
Well, i think i got confussed with another forum that had avatars but not anymore. Anyway, i don't see anything wrong with them, even i know they're completely useless... But i don't really get the point about the problem with avatars.

Missing "It's now safe to turn off your computer"
el_vago32 replied to mrestine's topic in Legacy OS
Well, since You're using Win Me, I think that It's such a Warning to get rid of it at time, maybe is better to do it now. Excuse me, but that's my point of view about that OS, and I rather use Win98 than that Me. P.S.: That missing screen is just nothing compared with what You're going to see later. -

Hey ChristianB, thanx a lot, I really *aprecciate* (I dunno if it is spelled right) your advices. My critical problem with english, sometimes happens when I'm trying to connect phrases, sometimes I can't get the syntax very well. And about some words, like "diferent".... , hehe, just keyboards's stuffs. Thx a lot again, and feel free to correct me, because it helps to be better.
-
perhaps, check This it doesn't only happen in winxp upgrade, one of these days you'll restart your machine and get this BSOD.

the only isue that gave SP1 (winxp) was that the events sounds were sounding a second after the event! (weird isn' it?) it was just enough to perform an unistall to SP1.

Pues, ¡que tenga suerte!, Cristián hehe, thx for replying in spanish, but if you want u can do it in english, cause i'm trying to get familiarized with english...i gotta learn it anyway, and BTW, forgive me because of my bad english, but "practice makes the master"

Quote: How can I see both: title and artist? for this you have to edit the id3V1 or id2V2 tag, and fill it in with the name you want it to show. Quote: And one more thing: is it possible to make mediaplayer playlist into text file? you can open the notepad, and drag in the playlist you want to see, then you'll visualize want you want.

Quote: Hi El Vago, (what does that mean by the way?) I still don't know what version of IE and OE(Outloook Express) you have? That may be your problem, you could just have a really old version of IE and a new version of Netscape. Have you tried Mozilla? I think it's better than netscape, isn't it? Maybe not, can someone comment on this whose tried recent versions of both? By the way I don't recommend using anything, but IE for web based hotmail, because MS is a bunch of bastards and in their typical anti-competive style don't allow file attachment uploads from anything, but IE. I think Netscape can and should sue MS over that. Thanks, Christian hello Christian, well, i just installed that netscape to get rid of that problem, at least temporally, but it's not my personal pc, so that pc's user is not that exigent to rather use mozilla or Opera. PS.: "el vago", it's in spanish and it means "lazy" or something ("vague", as yahoo's translation tool said)-->sometimes i need it, i don't usually speak english.

Quote: I was getting this for a week with hotmail and had to use OE for that week, now its back to normal and works fine. Very strange! thx, i tried that, but with Netscape and it works. well, i guess i'll wait 'til i decide to make a fresh install (one more time! ;( ) thx y'all

ok, i can't believe this has happened to me, cause everyday i'm working with client's workstations and sometimes their HD's are that damaged that we can't recover the information....well that's not the point, the issue is that my 40 gb HD has just blowed up and it's making that typical sound it makes when the internal heads are collapsing. i figured that i could recover most of the information, cause it (the problem) usually happens but not inmediately i boot up the the pc (i just put my HD as slave inother pc), but there are many folders i can't access nor copy because of the security stuff on NTFS in winxp, so the thing is that i would need to boot my damaged HD's OS up, and copy those folders to another drive, and as u can see that's virtually imposible in the coditions it is. so, my question is: isthere a way to access those protected folders without having to boot up the OS? any comments, suggestions...?, plz, i need to recover that info.
-
ufff!!, i've taken a very, very deep breath. after i tried ntrecover, i saw that was kinda hard to get that working, so a friend of mine told me about WIN2k and that i could set the permissions with just a right click on the folder i wanted to, and on the security tab, there i could do it. it was just that, everything is ok now, and i'm happy , not worried anymore, thx u guys for helping me.

Quote: Forgive me for sounding dense, but how about just ghosting it? actually, it was the first thing that came into my mind, but: Quote: Definately an idea, but I personally think the goal in this instance is to avoid an unnecessary hdd activity, to allow backup of selected files. The hdd activity from ghosting may be just enough to finish it off. no comments about that.. ahh!, i'll try that tool on a few hours cause right now i'm at work, and one last thing is that i posted this mssg in the wrong forum, it was supossed to be in "windows xp and windows server 2003", and this is the "windows 2000" forum..well, just in case someone though i'm blind or something, and to make note that my system is Winxp Pro, not Win2k.

How do you enable multiple downloads in IE 6.0?
el_vago32 replied to ConceptVBS's topic in Everything New Technology
Quote: The default changes depending on which IE model you install (4-6) I think, but 20 seems to be in place once you install IE6 iirc. * (That seems to be the number most folks choose & do well with!) APK yeah, i have IE6, but isn't this topic about IE6?, also, i dunno what "iirc" means, would u explain me that? thx -
How do you enable multiple downloads in IE 6.0?
el_vago32 replied to ConceptVBS's topic in Everything New Technology
ok, ok, ok, i'm surprised cause..ok, let me ask first, the "2" connections per server is the default setting??, cause i have't done any tweak to my internet explorer settings (i guess that, anyway none of the tweaks i've done is related with this topic) and its set up to "0x0000014" or "20" in decimal. -
well, if your router has multiple outs for more than one pc, it should work without problems, just try redefining the protocols that the pc's are using on the network and the internet sharing..anyway it shouldn't be a problem

which is best to run... 16 or 32 bit color?
el_vago32 replied to doniej's topic in Everything New Technology
Quote: Stuff looks crap on 16bit. I always use 32bit. As long as your video card is AGP, 32bit won't be a burden. i completely agree, i have an wallpaper that looks horrible on 16 bits res., but 32 bits works fine and the resources use difference its minimal (if there is a difference, hhehe ) -
ok,i just got the game and i got two questions about it: 1)where the hell can i find a no cd patch THAT WORKS, 'cause i've tried with many from differents servers and it gives me an error extracting the files. 2)in the race (the first race i have to do, after stealing that nice race car), i need some help, 'cause i can't keep the control of the car ;( !!!, i dunno why does it happen, 'cause i've played many races games and have no difficult with that...so, what i need to know is if there's any additional trick i can use to win that damn race, it's driving me nuts!
