    AV oftware Comparison needed

I support IT in some 264 schools and have recently completed a comparison of various AV's to replace the very crap Sophos we were already using. In the end we plumped for McaFee ASAP which is very very simple and this suited our clients and McaFee for our servers. However we thoutght that Symantec Corporate was actually the better product and part of the discision in the end came down to price. Personally I would recomend Norton 2003 for home use and Symantec Corporate in a windows server/cleint environment. The other AV's we tried came nowhere near. Some Call Me Tim

Which is better? Norton Corp AV 7.6 or Panda Antivirus 7

We did a trial of various antiviruses for use in schools over the space of three months and panda was just appalling, so much so we had to remove it from the trial schools before the 3 months were up. We found Symantec coporate to be the best most comprehensive AV but we ended up going for McaFee ASAP which was a) very cheap and was very simple and fitted our users better. For home use I'd go with norton 2003 and in a network environment I'd use Symantec corporate. Some Call Me Tim

    Shocking Computer Performance

Check your graphics settings, you might have FSAA and maybe even Aniortopt set to on also make sure vsync is set to off for benchmarking. For Geforce 4 the 42.01 seem to be the best drivers at the moment.

    NT to 2000 server

Always good advice to test out in atest network before hand. The way I normally do it is to build the new domain controller with win2k and set up with AD then transfer the olf NT domain users across using the ADMT (active director migration tool) lost count of how many I've done now and it works a treat. I'd advise getting yourself a good book or 5 and stinng down for a long read first though. Mark Minasi books are the nest I've found. Have Fun Some Call Me Tim

Performance degrading over time in GTA 3

Bascially you need more ram 128 is the very bare minimuim for XP and it's happier with 256. Now when you start running huge memoery hogs like GTA3 you'll need a lot more otherwise thing will start to get cached to the HDD which which slow slowings down somewhat, this is why you can hear your HDD chuntering away. With 512 meg you'll be a much happier bunny and it won't costs youa packet as it's only about £37 for an extra 256meg from crucial.com Some Call Me Tim
  6. I use Win2k and I've just upgraded to a shinny new GeForce 4400ti and I can no longer user Powerstrip 2.75 to set my fresh rates as I did before when I had a GeForce DDR. I've upgraded the drivers the the new altered ones which are compatible with nvrefresh but it still doesn't seem to work. I managed to use dxdiag to set dx stuff to 85hz but this does not work in opengl games. I've tried using the latest powerstrip 3.15 but it is not the same as the 2.XX ones where you can easily set the rate for each res (a major backwards step!) What do I need to do? Running at 60hz is a mojor pain (especially on the eyes!) so god knows why Nvidia can't make it easy to set it properly. I need Help! Some Call Me Tim
