Sorry Jamma , i mistakenly thought that you are using ATI , and just realised that u have SIS graphic adapter . And I dont really sure about the Linux driver for SIS but I wish you can find on how to settle your problem . Sorry again .

Hi Thanx Dapper. And its okay for the late reply . I will try to follow the link after my Jan exam Cheers And for jamma , I also tried Suse and mandrake ( both are not the latest version ) and the radeon seems work in those distros . But as I read many forum , Radeon can work in any distro ( for 2D there seems lots of ppl manage to get them , only problem with 3D ), just a matter that u know how or not ( for me I dont even know how to start it without the greay and white boxish ). In our case probably we need to learn more ( many people also have problems with ATI due to their lack of support ). And if still you want to Install the FC3 1st , then u can use the text mode for the installation . The only problem is to start the x without the graphical problem . As for now I know hot to start with text mode , innit 3 , and i start to learn to install fglrx driver using command . It just that during the process there is some glitch that I need to learn and make a research in the google . The problem with me is most of the solution or driver provided are always dependant on kernel , so I also have to learn how to recompile kernel and update them ( to 2.6.x i guess ). If I make a progress or have any answer I will try to post the link or make a how to my self . Cheers

Hi I know this is an 'old post but I have the same problem as u did. The problem with me is I dont know how to start the text mode ( I tried to press 'a' during reboot by grub, then i dunno where to change the '3 nogb' command , and I also dont know how to edit the XF86 ). I fing through the google for hours and still I cant find any well guide or procedure how to achieve that. Can u help me by give me details on how u edit the X86F or for starter to start my linux with text mode.Dont get me wrong , I just asking for any voluntary helps. If there is any websites or guide that you think useful for me to read, then I will do so. I love to learn but I just lost somehow.I used to use Yoper before ( with same machine and its fine - just that I want to try FC3) and Mandrake 8.X with my retired laptop. Thanks . Situation : I installed FC3 by using text mode since I cant install with graphical methods (Grey Background with square white box in the middle-representing mouse i guess). And luckily Isntallation fine ( completed and reboot ) . The problem now is after it booted , when the system start in X windows(graphics rite?) then the same greay background with blurred line and white box appeared again. And I dunno where to click or go from there. I tried to use 'a' during grub starting but dunno how to edit the parameters for '3 nogb' . And I also no nothing about editting XF86 . My Hardware: Pentium 4 ATI Radeon 9200 768 Mb Ram 1 Gb Swap for Linux Dual Boot Linux - XP ( Succeed with Yoper so far - Vesa driver I guess )

http://www.ntcompatible.com/thread29141-1.html Hi I also have been asking the same question couple of days ago.Which one is the best ? And I think we are at the same position rite now - hard drive running out of space and still no visible solution yet . But personally , I prefer an external closure + 'ordinary internal drive , compare to 'manufactured-built drives - just problem with the big M ( $$$ ) hehehehe . Yeah , I would agree that there are no much reviews out there about external closures vs ordinary external drives
-
Hi Recently , all my hard drives already full ( Total of 160Gb ) and I am interested to buy an external hard drives since all my internal bay slots for hard drives already full , and the raids also used in full capacity . So I plan to buy either USB2 or both USB2/FWire external harddrive. What I have in my 'shopping list' now are either Lacie P3 , Maxtor One Touch , and Western Digital All-In-One External. However , the problem is I already read some of the reviews regards to those drives , some of them give positive feedback , and some of them not. The issue that they have is about the HEAT .It said that if I planned to run the drive 24-7 , the drive will not last long , since some of the drives described above only has 'plastic case' and not aluminium case ( except for maxtor OT - but it costy compare to Lacie at the same Capacity/space ). So I think I ask whats your opinion about it . The drives that I plan to buy are in range of 200 - 250 Gb.I prefer a more economic drives ( less $/Gb space if u know what I mean ), but at the same the reliability of the drives also play the main factor as well .I do not have problem with the interface since I dont mind using USB2 or Firewire ( even some said FWire 400 & 800 give better transfer rate - I still dont think that really significant - but I am not sure ) . The other 'stupid' issue is if So if anyone has comments on Lacie , Plextor , or any other drives recommended . Bad experience , gd experience , all are welcomes . ( I need to become a smart consumer - less $$$ spending hehehehe ). Oh , I almost forget , most of the times I plan to use the drives as back up files , and probably for 'light' video editting and sound/audio editting . So probably I do not need FW i guess . Cheers for any opinions and helps.

I used to buy from the supplier above since the store is just nearby my house and some of it PC components price are bit lower than retail/high street price ( but the cons is the customer service isnt really good ).So you can check the price of the other external price if you want. And just for comparisons . 1 GBP £ = 1.79755 $ using the web services currency convertor .

Thanx dosfreak Hmm i also have been looking for 'external closure' as an alternative compare to 'manufactured-build external drives' such as Maxtor OT , Lacie etc .But after I consider the combined price of 'internal drives' & 'external closure-with usb2/FW-IDE adaptor' , it seems like the 'manufactured-build external drives' by Maxtor , Lacie etc have a lower price compare to 'external closure+internal drives' that you just described. But as u mentioned in your post, the external closure has a better features such as fan-built in with the closure ( I dont know if 'manufactured-external drive' has fan inside it ?? ),and most of closures nowadays made from aluminium,in which give better dissipation (compare to plastics for manufactured-external hard drive). But , as I mentioned before , I have to look at the 'price tag/Gb' and there where the HEAT questions come ? dosfreak - thnx for your post , it really helps me in making my decission ( in fact if it seems that i have no input/information about those drives in couple of days , i plan to use the 'external closure' method - just as what u did ), but for now , I also looking if anyone in this forum has Maxtor OT/Lacie/Western Digital , and share their experience especially regarding to HEAT , and how long does it lasts ( more than a year ? or more ? ) . I tried to find about all those things from google, net etc,but there are no complete reviews or guide about drives decribe above.Even if there are any,I still prefer a 1st hand experince by members in this forum , rather than reviews-paid by the manufacturer for ads purpose . Hmm , still undecided . In here , UK , a decent external closure cost £61.10 GBP ( http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=2933&GroupID=3 ), in which seems so expensive to me. But it still an option .....

Sorry , there is an incomplete sentecnce , maybe due fact that i just accidentally 'delete' the end part of the sentence . Complete sentence : The other 'stupid' issue is if I can 'open' the 'case' of the external drive and put some sort of fan on the top of the drive. I have 2 drives and both of them internally and have fan on the top of it - to cooled it down - fan manufactured by akasa if i am not mistaken . So I just wonder if I can do the same hehehe . I dont mind the noise ( I have a BIG Speaker to my PC - and usually I listen to mp3 while I working with PC ).So the question is , is there any possibility for me to 'open the case' and mode it by puttin' a fan - for any model above ? - Lacie P3 , Maxtor OT , WD AIO , etc ... Sorry again .

Hi , I am a heavy 'multimedia editting' PC user , and currently Im running a PC with Pentium Celeron 2.4Ghz and I found my PC really really slow .My options are either overclocking my processor or upgrading it.Btw the 1st option (overclock) come to and end when I found out that my motherboard do not support o/c and it also mention that my Celeron is protected , in which means i can't overclock it ??? ( anyone knows how to o/c Celeron 2.4 Ghz ?? probably o/c it to 3 Ghz??? )So here come my 2nd option , upgrade my CPU and sell my Celeron in eBay .And i really have a tight budject on this , so the CPU that come up to my head is Prescott 2.8 Ghz or P4 3Ghz Northwood 512Kb cache .I just wonder if my motherboard support Prescott ( Socket 478 ?? ) I'd already read some news/reviews from web ( i.e. tomshardware and even ntcompatible forum ) and it mentions of heat problem ?? If it just heat problem i think i can find good heat fan for that .And one final thing , if let say I upgrade my cpu into my PC , do I have to reformat/reinstall Windows since 1 license/processor ?? is it ?? or I just plug in the processor and then e'things fine ?? Is there any suggestion ??? Anything would help please . Thanks . My PC specs , Windows XP SP1 2600 Compaq S4150UK Pentium Celeron 2.4 Ghz 768 Mb RAM ( 512 + 256 PC2700 ) MSI 6577 Motherboard ( Intel 845G ) ATI Radeon 9200SE 160 GB Maxtor D Plus 7200rpm ATA133 80 Gb Hitachi/IBM Desktar 7200

Hi I think this will be a very long question from me.The scenario is I frequently formatting my C: (Windows xp Partition) after about 3 months or so ,since I want to have a clean registry etc. However I read some websites that saying that we can use Norton Ghost to make images of any partition into DVD-R media(s).So I am thinking rather than re-installing windows each time after formatting C: why dont I install the whole programs and games that I used to have ,and after that make an image using Norton Ghost ,and burn the image into DVD-R Media .And if I want to reformat the C: next time I just have to restore it from the DVD-R media.Just in case if someone ask me if I want to use this method for legit use,the answer is yes.I only have one PC and I just want to use this image for this PC only.In fact if I am not mistaken,if someone want to use the image to the other PC,the person must have the same hardware configration. I just bought Norton Ghost 2003 and try to follow the guidence(tutorials) and so on.But the problem is after the computer rebooting and go into PC-Dos mode, the driver for USB2 loading(Iomega EH-CI Drive something ,I dont remeber the exact name) and it detected two USB2 media in which 1D2=NEC 2500 DVDRW and ID4=160xxxX <---- My external Hard Drive. And it hangs over there. It seems like nothing happen. Is it running the PC-Dos in the background or something wrong?I follow each steps from the tutorials and still the same thing happens all over again after the reboot. Is there anyone can help me through this please. One other thing, let say I succesfully burn the image .gho to the DVD-R media, hoe can I restore it to fresh/raw partition?Or do I have to install fresh windows and norton ghost, and use restore option, and the files from DVD-R media will replace the windows in C: ? My PC specifications Celeron 2.4 Ghz 768 Mb Ram NEC 2500 DVDRW , use USB2 external adapter from startech.com My fresh C: Size: 18 Gb Used Space : 9Gb ( I plan to have 2 DVD-R to backup it) Free Space : 9Gb And hehehe if any of you do not understand my word I do really sorry for that,my english is quite crap.Btw , Thanks very much for the help.I really wish I can get over this problem.I already invested £30 for Norton Ghost 2003 .Thanks again. Ps: If anyone want to caontact me personally,my email dizarludba@yahoo.com ,

Hi Yesterday I caught a file named CoronaWmiLogFile reside in my C: directory . I become suspicious since i never met this file before ( before this i formatted my pc several times ) . I try to delete it but it can't . I search the internet through google and msn search but found several websites where most of them aren't in english . I just found one in english and its www.sharkyforums.com , but in that forum there is no solution for it . It seems like the final answer by formatting the pc . I am tired of formatting my pc , perhaps there are other solutions avaiable . Btw , I just curious , when we try to delete certain files and it said that 'file can't be deleted , use by other program or files ' or something like that , is there any chances we can delete it by changing certain setting ? permission ? or is there any possibilties that we can view which application or file using it . Thanks very much . As it seems in previous threats , i hate any spyware@adware@trojans in my pc . Thanks again Dizarludba

Thanks . I sent thhe file to the Panda S.O.S team , and they said it contained no virus , but can't say about adware/spyware . Mmm I will try to use the DOS to delete it soon . About the WMP , it seems like the WMP is still working , and as I remember there is no indication about can't stream certain files in WMP . Btw hanks for the guess and guide And believe it or not , everyday before shut down the pc , when I run the adware and Spybot , there are more than 50 cookies and cached file detected as spyware/adware . I meant everyday . When will all those mess will gone from the earth . Mmm sorry , just nowhere to complain .
-
And i forgot to mention , I use Panda Titanium Antivirus 2004 , and I use both Lavasoft Ad-aware and Spybot - Search and Destroy to detect spyware , but all of them did'nt recognise the CoronaWmiLogFile files . Thanks again .

Mmm what can I say ... I think the 'slowness' or 'passive' activity in this forum maybe contributed by few factors. As already mentioned by some previous comments , there is not much 'new' stuffs come out lately , especially from windows(still struggling with XP SP2??Longhorn late release issue ??).I dont know if Ic an speak on behalf of the others, but as far as I know it seems like the users avaiable in this forum is quite big( around 500 to 600 ??),but most of the problem issued already solved(or solved partly) in this forum, what you can do before you poast a new thread, just use the 'search' tool provided in the forum, and it is amazing a lot of problem already being issued before and some of it already been solved. So whats the point of posting the same problem all over again, unless the problem not sloved accordingly. And if so,some problems issued also already solved by other forums or guide(Just use google.com wisely). The other thing that contributed to this 'passiveness' as we can called it maybe due to 'time constraint' by some software developers or students involved in this forum.Time is so precious nowadays.Outsourcing ... Job Cuts ... Fat Cat Pay by shareholders etc etc etc. And i think worth mentioning here, everything that we do must have an aim ... an objective. For me ,this forum aims to help users that having problem regards to their mobo or hardwares etc ... and it seems like that objective have already been meet.I recommended a lot of my friends to share their problem and idea in this forum , and as results they did joined and they found it great. About the interface, tools etc ... IMHO I think hotmail change its interface couples of time , yahoomail as i remember already been twice ... other forums??I saw lot of change in the other forums too, especially when the moderator/owner think it is time to embedded new features in their forum. And I think it is time for us - the user to embrace this new features/technology (i.e php).Maybe some of teh tools quite irritating or cause certain problem, but it isn't look that important ... the message and the services provided are important . And for some senior member or certain users that almost 'write a novel' in here, I think some of them qualified to do so.Some of these people(s) are helping the others in gigantic numerous occasions and never asking for money for their time and help. And some computer illiterate users like me who have problem calling customers service of some hardware/software vendors and never get any help. And btw i think everyone deserves to speak freely their own mind. Lastly , everything i said above are just my personal opinion. And for me,what 'insides' is better than the looks.Btw sorry if my opinion offending anyone.

Hi I have 3 year olds Canon printer Canon BJC-2100 .I have no problem using it until recently. The 1st problem is,everytime I open the 'Printer and faxes' under windows ,the cpu usage increase to 100% , when i use the task manager to identify the program/services that using the vast amount of cpu power,it turns out to be spoolsv.exe , in which identified as Print Spooler service , one of windows servies that vitally needed to run the printer. Is it possible to turn it back to normal. I already use msconfig and uncheck and check the 'Print Spooler' BUT the cpu problem still can't be solved. If I uncheked it,the printer doesn't show of and can't be used. The 2nd problem is even with 100% cpu usage,I can print a document (which means no problem with drivers etc) , but then it turns out the unprinted white paper comes out from the tray.I checked the Ink catridge and it still full, but just in case the ink already run out,i installed a new catridge afterwards , but the problem still can't be resolved. I search the google about the 1st problem, and some said that maybe virus or spyware breached my PC.I ran mc afee antivirus, adware pro and spybot, and nothings found. Some other websiteS said that maybe the hardware already malfunction.Hmm is it true?Any opinion? If it is true that the printer already broken/malfunction ,then I really dont hesitate to buy a new one.But if it still can be use,I really do not want to throw it away.I am still a student ,and I really have to take care of my budject tightly. Thanks very much. My PC Specs Windows xp 2500 Celeron 2.4 Ghz 768 Mb Ram Canon BJC-2100

i am not sure about this , but first of all its better for u to check the task manager , then go to "Processes"'s section , then find program that use that much cpu ( look at the CPU section under processes ) , then try to close that program that use lots of cpu .... try this .... good luck to u

there is few others engine as well ... iMesh , audiogalaxy or morpheus ... use ad-aware for convinience ...
