APK So now you're going to start seeing spam coming from Sims 2 users when they are online and I suppose they have a built-in SMTP Relay Server too, open of course

Women are more complicated, it's like the classic Star Trek episode line: Nomad: "Females are a mass of conflicting impulses."

Will clearing the CMOS help with IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL errors?
jmmijo replied to nickw33's topic in Software
Originally posted by nickw33: Quote: My question is... should I consider clearing the CMOS, as it is about the only thing I have not done (other than unplugging the graphic card) Nope, almost 99% of these issues are related to the ram. Even if you have a matched pair of dual-channel memory modules, one or both of them could be incompatible with this motherboard, bad/flaky modules, or actually the timing could just be off. This last issue normally just requires that the latest firmware update be applied to the motherboard. However there is no way to know if this works or not until you try it. If you already have the latest BIOS update for you make/model motherboard, then I would suggest tryin out a different stick(s) of memory, until you find the one that is causing the problem. -
I can't really say since I've only used Trillian "It's all about you isn't it Raymond?"

I think ChristianB made a post about November sometime, I think I PM'd him to check out what was happening and all @APK, I know what you mean about a new post to a very old thread, there was one today that was over 4 years and I remember something in the discussion about SP2 for Windows 2000 not being available yet

Is I see alot of fools give this guy alot of crap, saying all kinds of things about him, but I wonder & have asked them - what've you done better around this field than he has in SpinRite & his Shields Up site? Don't hear any replies to date from them either... amazing how people can be sometimes! apk This just proves my point about that other forum does it not ?!? Steve Gibson attempted to tell Microsoft about their RAW Socket implementation for the TCP/IP stack for XP and how it could be exploited. I wonder if most/many/all the recent IE exploits would have been an exploit if this hadn't been implemented, at least it makes me wonder, hmmmmmmm Well the other thing here is that it appears to be normal for some to bring down or knock others off of their pedestal. This is think maybe due to their own lack of self-worth or self-esteem, it is sometimes totally illogical how rediculous human beings can be sometimes -
Be sure the BIOS is set for Enhanced mode for all IDE/SATA channels. Also, make sure that you connect the drive to SATA port 1, I'm assuming you have a SATA drive as it's brand new The reason you want to do this is that with the 915/925 chipsets, Intel now supports (4)Four SATA ports, usually labled SATA 1 ~ 4. If you have a third party SATA controller on this machine, you may need to disable it as you don't really need it running, this could also be where you connected the drive up to, for instance if you see a SATA 5/6 connector this would be for the third party controller.

Well I have seen first hand how a good memory optimizer can help and I have also seen where it didn't or actually degraded performance somewhat. This being said leads me to believe that there are *always* going to be scenario's where these kinds of apps will work wonders and others that it will not. Remember there is no panecia here, how can a memory optimizer be *all* things to *all* users, it can't nor can any other app for that matter. I do however think that Microsoft has attempted to *not* optimize there Windows OS's so they can attempt to be a more general use OS for as many users as possible. Just think if you could compile an optimized version of XP or 2K for just your machine configuration, I think it would improve the performance of that machine bigtime

I'd like your opinions in another forum's article...
jmmijo replied to jmmijo's topic in Slack Space
Well, I find that this comes up in all sorts of forums; in that I'm a bigtime gamer, my favs are Diablo 2 and Dungeon Siege. You see tons of forums posts about the pros/cons of modding and such and that it's either the best thing since sliced bread or the devil incarnate. Man, I sometimes think people need to just lighten up and get a life, yes, it's nice to post contrary views and opinions, that's probably the main thing the net is all about, but to incite character assasination because of a contrary view is rediculous. But I guess that's also why the net is called the Wild, Wild West sometimes I will reconsider my stance of not posting over there but I think I'll lurk for awhile longer -

APK, I don't think I want to join that forum and start posting in your defense for one reason, I may end up getting too personal and I don't need to start no flame war, even though I wouldn't mention NTcompatible, it's just that there seems to be enough homerism going on over there and I just want to ignore this kind of close mindedness -
I'd be happy with it if the app performs as good as AdAware Personal Edition

I mean, doesn't Western Digital's "LifeGuard Tools" that ship w/ their drives provide a low-level formatting routine containing program?? APK Sort of, the Data Lifeguard tools can do a Zero Fill, quick or full to the drive, be it PATA or SATA. It can do a drive diagnostic as well. I guess it depends on what is considered a low level format

If you could grow up in another decade, which would it be in the last 100 years?
jmmijo replied to Jerry Atrik's topic in Slack Space
Yeah, the roaring twenties for me too and the speak-easies -
This is usually an issue when you have mis-matched memory sticks for sure Here's the thing, even if you purchased an equivelent stick of PC3200/DDR400, you may find that one stick has a CL of 3 and the other a CL of 2.5 and of course this is a mis-match. But here's the thing even if both sticks have the same CL rating, they most likely will not work together because the manufacturer is not the same and/or the memory cells themselves are not the same, i.e., one stick has memory cells made by Hynix and the other by Micron etc.... You should only purchase matched pairs of memory sticks for *all* dual-channel boards. The only other thing you can try out is to stick one of these into DIMM slot 1-A(Channel 1, Slot A) and the other into DIMM slot 2-A(Channel 2, Slot A). This will place the motherboard into single-channel mode and should work.

The other option you have is to purchase a USB Floppy Drive, these are external units and cost about $40~50. I know it's not a cheap solution however if the motherboard has a defective FDC then this is usually cheaper then purchasing another motherboard Also, you have tried out a different floppy drive cable have you not ?!? These are dirt cheap now a days Remember the rule on connecting floppy drives: A: drive is after the twist in the cable, the end connector. The B: drive is before the twist in the cable, the middle connector!
