I did notice a firmware update for this model drive. Not sure if it will help you out but it's worth a try
-
I have not tried them yet

Have you checked out nVidia's website for more info on installation issues -
Just read a review of PCI-Express video cards vs. top AGP8x ones...
jmmijo posted a topic in Hardware
@APK, as to question: Yes, they are available. I just built a graphics workstation for a client based on a Dual-Xeon(Nacona) by Supermicro. It had everything you'd want in a higher end board: (8)Eight DDR2 DIMM slots, a PCI Express x16 graphics slot, a PCI Express x4 auxilary slot, a single PCI 2.2 slot, and finally (3)PCI-X slots, one being a Zero Channel Raid slot. The client also ordered a PNY Quadro Graphics card, also PCI Express with 256MB of onboard frame buffering. This connects to the x16 slot of course As for the performance, seemed to be on par with the mid-high end AGP 8x cards and GPU's. I didn't notice any real speed difference with 3D Mark 2001-SE (Build 330). This I'm sure is due to the fact this older app didn't properly recognize the PCI Express slot. -
This is most likely due to the fact that the SCSI drive was formatted as a Dynamic Disk rather then the normal BASIC disk type. I'm not sure if re-installing Win 2K and then using the Disk Management applet will allow you to reconvert back to a basic disk type or not. Since XP's disk managerment doesn't seem to see it properly, I take it that Microsoft changed how these operate under the two OS's...

No I'm afraid that model does not have the nVidia Soundstorm audio processor. Check out the info on Asus' Site for more info. This model board uses the C-Media sound processor instead
-
Most likely you will need to upgrade to a separate graphics card. That onboard graphics solution is just not fit for many games, especially the latest generation of games being published. You can try using the latest drivers from Via's site just in case there is a fix for this, I doubt it however Also make sure you have DX9.0c installed as well

diff between 4 port hub and 2.0 4 port hub
jmmijo replied to snowbunny00774's topic in Everything New Technology
Yes, it basically speed. The older 4-port USB hub is most likely a USB v1.1 hub, much slower, about 11~12 Mb per second transfer. Perfectly fine for shared devices like a mouse and/or keyboard. However the pricing on USB v2.0 hubs is pretty cheap and since pretty much all motherboards made in the past year or two are going to have support for USB v2.0, then why not maximize your performance -
I would suggest downloading and running THIS Version of DirectX v9.0c. It's the SDK runtime so it's much larger but includes all the supported OS's
-
Hmm, this is strange since you apparently do not get any of the noise when running under Win 9x but only under XP. So one thing you maybe able to try out and see what happens is to try removing the sound card and the drivers and use the onboard sound, that is if your motherboard has onboard sound Also, note that both the Soundblaster PCI 64/128 were designed around the Ensoniq Soundscape PCI audio processor, there could have been some compatibility and/or driver issues. Creative Labs had just recently purchased Ensoniq and basically rebadged many of the Ensoniq Audio PCI cards as a Soundblaster card. Check out their Support Site for more info that may help out

This is the full title, oh Stanley you freaky man The old sig had the line spoken from Dr. Strangelove (Peter Sellars). The nuclear missile plot was set in motion by General Jack Ripper (Sterling Hayden). The BUFF pilot was in fact Major TJ Kong (Slim Pickens). Now back on topic, I liked a lot of the Sci-Fi series over the years and Babylon 5 is one of them. Interesting how ex-Sci Fi series actors turn up in current Sci-Fi series, Walter Koenig was the head of the rogue Psy-Ops group that landed on the station in hopes of recruiting some more telepaths. The other thing I thought was pretty neat is how they initially used the Amiga Video Toaster to render many of the space scenes, including the battles and such

Another FYI for you, I'm currently on Comcast Cable, previously it was ATTBI before the buyout I currently use a Linksys BEFRS41 Cable/DSL Gateway box. Works great for my entire household

One thing you should note is that there is a strong possibility that your motherboard does not support the 1MB Prescott CPU's. There are now two versions of the P4 Prescott, one that runs at the standard 800MHz FSB and the other that will run at the older 533MHz FSB. However since the Prescott core CPU's require much more power than the older Northwood core cpu's this is most likely the problem. You'll need to check carefully with the motherboard manufacturer for a BIOS update, some can be updated to properly support these CPU's and others will not be able to be updated this way

Actually this was only a matter of time as Darwin proved with natural selection/evolution. I would think that at some point there will be more and more humans with immunities to some/all forms of cancer as well Great read there APK, thanks...

Guys, ever seen this error message when starting up apps?
jmmijo posted a topic in Customization & Tweaking
I bet this can be corrected by just re-installing SP4 + hotfixes if any Also note that this maybe something that is specific with just some apps and in this case Opera. Since I don't use Opera I can't really say. -

No, not yet, but like I mentioned in my previous post, I only use it on my gaming rig which at the most will have some current game save data is all If you want to have data integrity/security in mind, then you want RAID 1(mirroring) at the very least, but RAID 5(striping/mirroring/parity) is the best option, but also the most expensive

APK, I think that line was from Back To School -
Well I personally have used RAID 0 for quite some time, mainly on my gaming rig as I don't really care if something gets fubar'd on that machine It is much faster then standard/single drive booting. I'm currently using a RAID 0 array with a pair of Seagate SATA drives.

It sounds like the SATA HD is connected to a third-party motherboard controller, i.e., you need to do an F6 install. At the bottom of the screen, when you first start booting the install media for windows there should be a message that states: "Press F6 to install a third party SCSI or RAID controller." Do this even though you have a SATA controller, trust me as these are still considered SCSI controllers by Windows Once you've pressed F6, look for a floppy disk that came with the motherboard that has the SATA device drivers on them. Once the screen asks for this option you'll press the 'S' key and insert the floppy disk into the drive.
