    Delivery failure notices

I've had a couple of these myself. Basically some spammer(s) have your email address and this is nothing more then these jerks spoofing your email address in the crap they send out ;( I was thinking the same thing myself and did all the same scans but found nothing either

    CPU Usage in Windows XP

The system idle process does normally take up most of the CPU time, this is a normal function of XP. You'll notice that it takes up less CPU time when running other apps that require more As for the extra sound you're hearing, does your machine happen to have an IBM/Hitachi HD installed ?!? If so then this is also normal, it's part of their idle down/power management functions. It's really prevalent sounding on their SCSI HD's but I've heard the same noise from their Deskstar models as well...

Any portable MP3 players usable with NT4?

Well the other solution would be to use either Win 98-SE or Win 2K Pro. Of course Microsoft has officially stopped support of Win 98-SE now but you can still get the updates from their website
  4. So is there any kind of modem app or suite or control panel that you can locate ?!?!? Perhaps something that says Fax/Modem Suite or even some kind of Voice/Modem/Fax office kind of app ?!? Also if you open Task Manager, do you see any kind of Application and/or process you don't recognize ?!?

Mouse scroll in IE6 causes browser to go 'back'

No, I had this same problem myself with this exact mouse even connected directly to the box I've since gone with a Microsoft Optical wired instead without any issues
  6. Then the only other possibility is the modem device drivers. Perhaps if you go into Device Manager and check out the modem properties and check there for any message check box or something like this. Also, do you have any special Gateway modem software installed ?!? Perhaps some kind of OEM app that comes with the machine that is actually displaying this message.
  7. Quote: Great! Downloading now... Two quick thanks need to go out. First off to you APK for taking the time to do this. I really appreciate it. Great program! Also thank you for adding me in the credits, unexpected but appreciated. And second, to jmmijo. Thanks for moving the files around and getting them ready for d/l. You never once got impatient, and always had stuff moved before I even had a chance to get them downloaded. Thanks guys! You're welcome, glad I could be of assistance Course I have to rib APK for his endless updates to all three packages
  8. Actually this kind of sounds like you may have some spyware installed Have you run AdAware PE on your machine yet? If not, I would do so. You can d/l it from www.downloads.com
  9. Should work now, however some FTP clients require that you have the PASV mode turned on and others work better without this turned on. Also, there is a limit of two connections at any one time and I noticed that two users were on a little while ago. Try it now and see what happens

Daymare! One do drive you nuts.

Yeeeep, I'd say ditch the old hub and replace with a basic 8~16 port non-managed SOHO switch. I personally don't like it when the xDSL/Cable Modem/Router provides the DHCP services. I prefer using a separate router, like from Linksys to do this instead. But I bet if you completely eliminate that old hub you'll most likely be just fine, and I bet the the AUTO function will work too

    power source

Well I can see how it *possibly* could damage something, this will depend on the PS and the voltage regulators on the motherboard however. If said PS has a problem outputting enough current on the power rail that is drawing more then the rating of the PS, then the voltage can drop. This in turn could cause the regulator on the motherboard to fluctuate and this in turn could cause spikes and dips in the output. The dips are not the issue, only the spikes. These usually get filtered out by good vaoltage regulator circuitry in both the PS and on the motherboard however if there are any marginal components this could be an issue. OK, having said this your supply could be just fine however if it's a generic brand PS I would consider getting a replacement and keeping this one as a spare or emergency PS. I recommend Enermax or Antec as they seem to both have very good PS's and are rated highly, well at least by me

I like it! Alot... how about you?

Wasn't the original GTO a big block GM or was it from the small blocks or was there an option for both engine types ;( The one GM muscle car I really liked the looks of was a convertible Olds 442, that was a sweet looking ride

Well I guess this is time for putting fuel on the fire I'm a FORD man so I've always liked T-birds myself. The recent retro-rod as APK likes to say is just that, a throw back to the original two-seater that competed against the vette. I guess if I had the time and money I'd like to restore a 1957 bird to a candy apple red paint job with white leather interior and the removable white hard-cover with those nice looking port-holes on each side Don't know if any of you catch the Discovery/Learning channel's or not but they've had a show on that detailed how Ford commisioned to have a show stopper Super Bird when it was relaunched. I think the designer was Don Foose, iirc. Basically they retuned the stock v8 and suspension to handle and perform better and chopped the windscreen down a bit. Seemed like only a couple of inches but left the riding hieght the same. Also reworked the grill and hood to better suit what the Super Bird would look like. The other muscle car I would like to own is the 1970 F1 Mustang that Steve McQueen drove in Bullet, loved that chase scene with the Charger 8)

    GREAT new FREE Undelete tool!

I've already recovered data from my broken RAID array's, two of them in fact using R-Studio. It has different modes of operation in that it can also read the drive/array in a raw format and attempt to coelesce your files and folders this way I'll try this tool out on a couple of good arrays to see how it functions and keep a copy of the tool archived for future reference.

    SP2 for XP

That's a nice feature, I prefer to slipstream it manually so I can include third party drivers too

    SP2 for XP

I can't say as I've not tried it out but I'm most likely going to wait until the official release of SP2 before slipstreaming
  17. Well I guess I don't always work in a tactful manner myself. I call them as I see them but like you I also have made waves in the past so I pick and choose my battles now, it's too bad this happens but the politics of the situation warrant this kind of behavior sometimes
  18. You know APK, there is one thing I hadn't looked for in your Toolkit, is there an nslookup app in there ?!? Also a trace route replacement ?!? I used to work at an ISP and I loved using the *nix tools available to do things like look for where the SPAM/UCE came from and notify the offending domain admins of possible abuse

Merry Christmas or Hanukah or Festivus....

You know when you think about what the holiday season is *supposed* to be about, it's not all the gift giving/receiving. It's really supposed to be about being with your family and friends The sharing of time with your family and friends is more valuble to me then any gift I would ever receive Have a happy holiday everyone 8)
  20. Quote: Well you found that quick enough =) I'll wait for the word from jmmijo to download. And thx jmmijo for taking the time to do all this for us. Happy Holidays to you all as well. - Scott / Lotus Done! Let APK know if there are still some bugs to iron out
  21. OK, the updates are in the LeechMeNow folder
  22. EDIT: Correction, I'll transfer these files over to the leech folder and see how the bandwidth holds up. Cause I run an FTP server with other users on there as well, I'll have to limit the leechmenow account to 2 connections max. Currently there is no limit however this would suck up all available bandwidth including for my online gaming EDIT2: OK, transfer of files now complete. Please find all (3)Three updated apps in the LeechMeNow folder
