Well I've had issues with WinDVD v3.xx on Windows XP, it crashes all the time. However v4.xx seems to work ok. As for PowerDVD, I've never had any issues with it at all, with either the Windows Media Player v8.x or 9.x I wish I could be more help on this one

Do you have the engineering rev 2.xx board or the previous version board ?!? Also you have flashed the firmware to the latest version to I presume. I have a v2.xx board and haven't noticed this problem, well not yet anyways. Hopefully it never will happen

Thanks Philipp, it seems to be working properly now -
overclocking success will depend upon you CPU's, the memory and of course the AGP graphics card. You may need to start by seeing if you can first overclock the FSB and see if any anomylous behavior occurs, then gradually raise it until things begin to freak out then back off a notch or two to be safe. This is usually where you can safely overclock too. Be aware that it's possible to shorten the life span of some of these componenets, of course I never seem to have them long enough to ever see this effect

Perhaps it's time to get a brand new one, larger and faster now a days and just beat the bejesus outta the old one, have a sledge-O-matic handy for the CEO too

Ah, but only if you put Mr. Fusion into a Delorean, it's that damn stainless steel that creates the time bubble

So obviously you're not using bridging mode then I no longer use mine cause I moved over to cable instead but I still have it lying around someplace. So does the 675 provide private IP's in the Class B or C range? I assume it's the 192.168.xxx.xxx range but I bet it can be changed. Have you tried making one of the workstations static, that is provide it with an unused or outside the pool IP along with the proper DNS/Sub/Gateway and see if that machine behaves the same way. I myself have two machines that have this done for FTP and Game hosting purposes. -
Yes, well I think the cost of them are just a bit too steep for most of us to pay for, that is until the oil is almost depleted then all of a sudden the Oil Cartel's will let us know about this new wonderful and cheap energy alternative :x

Glad to here you fixed the issue

You can also try running a CHKDSK /F on the boot/system partition. Just to see if there are any filesystem issues.

No excuse Well an IT person's job is never done is it, seems that things will go awry at the worst possible moment in time doesn't it 8)

You mean like in Back to the Future That would be nice to be able to stuff garbage down Mr. Fusion Reactor and have nothing but H2O as the output 8)

Could be, but try this trick out first to see if it's the RAM. Remove all stick of memory, nothing else. Plug in the power and turn on the machine and see if you get a long post beep error code, you should without the memory installed, well at least for Award BIOS mobo's that is If you still don't get a beep even without RAM installed then you have to start looking at something else causing the problem. You may want to try out another PS or simply remove everything except the CPU, heatsink fan and memory and see if the mobo POST's or not. This includes disconnecting all drives as well, both the data and power cables to see if there is a loading issue or not.

You'll find that setting in IE under the Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced tab. Scroll down a little and look for the Reuse windows for launching shortcuts option. Uncheck this box. I've found that sometimes this doesn't always work and it will still reuse windows on occasion. The only solution to this is to use a different browser, like one that supports TABbed web browsing is nice -
In and around PDX it's around the $1.90 mark. Super of course is always about $0.20 higher then regular ;(

You did try and boot into safe mode didn't you ?!? That is to say, there are some other boot options if you press the F8 key at the beginning of the boot process, right after the post screen. You should get a menu option screen and one of them is Safe Mode, another is the Last Known Good selection. This may help as well as it reverts back to the Last Known Good bootup settings.

Nice, I had to search for this product however, but I've included the link here.

So are you using a broadband gateway box, like a Linksys or Netgear router to provide internal private IP leases or are you using the Win 2K box as a Proxy/Gateway via ICS ?!? I myself prefer the former as it give you more control over the internal LAN with the web interface you can setup port forwarding/filtering, a DMZ if need be the size of the DHCP pool, all kinds of things. I currently use an older Linksys 4-port gateway box. This is then connected to a couple of non-managed 8-port switches and everything works just fine. Of course this is just my home config, but you can expand it to suit any size business, well up to a point of course -
So is this where you would make this user a member of a group, say the power users group, then restrict the usage of this group on the local machine ?!?
-
Yes I recommend the Sennheiser's as well, I picked up a pair of HD 497's from CompUSA for a decent price and these are the best pair I've ever owned
-
Wouldn't this basically be a power user account or what ever MS is calling it in .NET ?!? Looks like you'll want to use the Local Security Settings under Admin Tools. Look for Software Restriction Policies.

I wonder if this has to do with some kind of DNS up[censored] as I've noticed that the ntcompatible.com domain name is missing and only the IP address is listed -
This app has saved my bacon twice now R-Studio Of course it does require that the machine is connected to a LAN but I'm not sure if the OS has to be at the desktop or not to see the drive, I'm thinking it does so the only other solution is to pull the drive and connect it in another machine while trying to recover the data

It's almost like the persistant connection is not working. By default Windows attempts to keep the network connection alive but perhaps something about the network or something on the network is causing this. Did anyone ask you if this is the only machine having this problem ?!? This would point to the machine itself rather then the network in general. -
