Can't say I have but perhaps you should try and check the Check for Disk Errors checkbox and the test free space checkbox as this will require a restart and upon restart it will then proceed to check the entire partition. This may take a while so either do it over night or when you go do something else

Guys, what are non-internet routable IP addy octets again?
jmmijo replied to sapiens74's topic in Networking
I personally use the 192.168.xxx.xxx range as that is what my Linksys router uses for it's internal NAT/DHCP server. Also note that when you subnet, it's really masking out certain octets and borrowing bits from others, hence why you would have issues connecting to one subnet when using another This can get complicated unless you can remember to use the actual IP address rather then using NetBIOS and sharenames to connect via an intranet. Having two separate networks can come in handy if you want to secure lower priority machines from say higher, more secure machines but then they can't share info if you need them too -
b. Ah. nevermind

Which 52x Burner is better? MicroAdvantage or I/O Magic
jmmijo replied to Christianb's topic in Hardware
Yeah, there does seem to be a lack of free version of burning software out there ATM -
Is the PSU the same as before changing motherboards? If so have you tried another PSU yet?

When you say the "power cuts off", are you referring to the video signal on the monitor or what ?!? Please clarify

Which 52x Burner is better? MicroAdvantage or I/O Magic
jmmijo replied to Christianb's topic in Hardware
Actually I think Clone CD is a commercial product. I've not looked for free ones but take a look at downloads.com first and see which ones are free -
You could try re-installing SP1 again, perhaps get the Network install version instead of the quick install version. Be sure you have a fast connection as this is 100MB+

Which 52x Burner is better? MicroAdvantage or I/O Magic
jmmijo replied to Christianb's topic in Hardware
Well it does on standard ISO9660, non-copy protected disks, just like Nero does. If you're looking to dupe copy-protected disks then you have to go with a third party app like Clone CD or a similar app Most of these sites have info on the makes and models of burners they have tested to work with their software. Perhaps this is the first place to go -
Download TweakUI for XP as I think it has an option to remove this history. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

FTP that can track and individual file download?
jmmijo replied to Mr.Guvernment's topic in Slack Space
So you need an FTP Server to log only when something specific triggers it, in this case if User a d/l file b for instance ?!? I can't say I've come across one that would do this, sorry -
If it's a hofix update, then this should take care of this for you

I've had success with Drive Image Pro. It allows you to create bootable DOS mode rescue disks as well

FTP that can track and individual file download?
jmmijo replied to Mr.Guvernment's topic in Slack Space
I thought that most, if not all, FTP server software can keep logs on user accounts. This should include specific file(s) being u/l and/or d/l and timestamps. Also how long the user was online and timestamps. Check the user accounts section of Bulletproof, it could be disabled for some reason and you're not tracking anybody at this point. -
The only thing you may notice however, is some packet collision. This is because a 10-T hub shares all the ports up to a max of 10Mbit. What this will cause is an occasional or even not so occasional sputter and/or slowness when connecting to some sites or even checking you email. It's not usually a bit deal as you can see that halving your bandwidth on the hub by 2 will give each machine 5Mbit to work with, still plenty of overhead to work with Be sure to keep the patch cable lengths to a minimum as this can add to further packet loss and slowdowns of course

Does the Audigy 2 exhibit the problem of the Live ?
jmmijo replied to lorddraxar's topic in Hardware
That's a good question as I no longer own a VIA based chipset board now I couldn't say if this is going to be a problem or not. I can say however that I did have an Audigy 1 on my old VIA KT333 chipset board and I don't remember getting/having any of the issues you describe. I have read about them from numerous users out there and they seem to be more prevelent on VIA chipset boards for some reason Having built many systems around the VIA chipset and using the Live! series cards and beyond I can't say I came across this problem. Perhaps next week I maybe able to find time to build a test rig and see if I can duplicate this problem -
Something went weird after NTFS format

Prionter issues - keeps asking for login info - user / pass
jmmijo replied to Mr.Guvernment's topic in Everything New Technology
Have you tried to delete the shared printer on the server, then delete the network printer from each workstation and re-add them again? I wonder if something got messed up, permission wise with the power failure Another option is to get a dedicated IP print server, like those from HP for instance. On a local LAN you can give it a static non-routable IP address as it's only for the LAN anyways -
I use Aopen or Toshiba myself

Quote: Big thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, I'm mighty glad to finally make the switch to ntfs; it's been LONG due, I delayed and delayed for months, years lol. Now playing around with the File & Folder Permissions-it's cool! Anyhow, do you have happen to know of any MS tech documents that explains why MFT can be so ugly big on NTFS partitions? I searched and searched.....found nothing of relevance I think this will help explain some of the basics of the MFT http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;174619 I would goto Microsoft's KB and select - All Microsoft Products - and then just use the keyword mft. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[ln];kbhowto -

Quote: hey i got a cisco 2500 router. can i do a rj45 in (from a hub) and an rj45 out to the computer or to another hub? i have the rj45 adapter out from the AUX port.. You got a transceiver on the AUI connector then? This should work as it converts the normal AUI connector to standard RJ45 Ethernet. It's been awhile since my ISP days however and I can't get into the Cisco 2600 we have at work as only Corporate can touch it

Quote: I know where to stick my dimm's into. What I wan't to know is if there are any other dual-channel modes beside linear? I'd like to know too, my Canterwood board only states Dual-Channel Memory Mode Enabled. Nothing about this Linear mode.
