Have you tried these drivers?http://www.motorola.com/softmodem/driver.htm I know my old motorola sm56 could be a pain to install,it would take 3-4 tries before it installed and worked.It has to be on com 3 so if anything is using com 3 uninstall it and then install the drivers.If I remember correctly the modem isn't auto detected at all just install the drivers then it should be installed.Thats all I can think of right now.

I just turned off the autoupdate and found that I can uninstall it too.Open the sysoc.inf file and remove hide, or ,hide from the autoupdate line.

This may or may not help but you can also try the new drivers http://3dfxunderground.cjb.net still in beta though.

There is a good reason why you can't get 32 bit,Voodoo 3 3000 can't do 32 bit colour even though there is the option of choosing it.Oh just read your post again have you put in the driver for your monitor?
