i checked out autoweb also and they didnt seem to have the "special" deals. the local dealers are giving 0% or 4k$ for up to 60 months for the intrepid (21k new) and 2.9% on the stratus (18k new). i like the 240horse intrepid but i would rather stick with the 350z. (marriage and freakin children dont'cha'know)

if u dont mind me asking what did that set u back? and what part of the country?
-
no kidding huh dealers are giving cash back, 0% financing and bj's for american cars

ive been thru the samsung site and they arent very forthcoming on information and thier bios updates are way behind the times. i think without giving the unit up to a tech for some trial and error stuff we might have taken this as far as we can. unless anyone else can come up with a xp specific idea the problem with the old laptops is that the bios was setup before acpi so they need to be updated for xp. i will keep this samsung thing in mind in case i come across it again.
-
1st enter the bios and load default settings (always do that after a flash) if that doesnt fix the error load the old bios and we will work from there im 99% positive it's a acpi problem because the lappy was made before acpi.
-
sweet load xp and i will keep my fingers crossed p.s. i always sweat when i recommend to a new guy to flash the bios

bummer about this time difference im at work so i cant look at my flash disk but... on your boot floppy there is a file config.sys what are the commands in it?
-
the only system files u need are command.com io.sys msdos.sys it'll all fit fine after that. me puts a lotta crap for a boot disk that it doesnt need make sure u back up the bios (it'll ask if u want to)
-
http://www.samsungpc.com/gb/support/gt6000/bios/bios-instructions.html i was looking thru the info on that particular laptop. directions and the latest bios are there. make sure u can boot from the floppy, and make sure that nothing can interupt the process during the flash. should be ok after that
-
im pretty positive a bios upgrade will fix your probs the main difference is the power management from the older os's i have upgraded 9 or 10 old lappy's to xp and they all needed a bios to run properly

Quote: As for the SQL server issue, nobody should ever have their SQL box exposed to the Internet anyway, and if they did they should have been up to date on their patches (and there was one long before the worm came out). mr. clutch hit the nail on the head. it used to be u had to know how to use a computer to set one up and it took a few years of experience. everything is so automatic that anyone can setup a sql server. i wonder if it will come down to having to be liscenced to operate a server or a specific type of server on the internet. man doesnt that open a can of worms.

did u happen to upgrade the bios at all. most (old) lappys need a new bios for xp

Yet Another Good Reason to Get a Digital Camera

Quote: Hi Alec, Isn't kind of ironic that analog film is damaged and the magnetic solutions are A-Okay? One would think it'd be the exact opposite. -Christian regular film is photo (photon) sensitive material. xrays are a blast of photons in the xray band of the spectrum. just a fun fact -

incorrect antec is the developer (i did the engineering review for this case myself) the plant that was producing these cases (in mexico) sold the drawings. that producer has since been fired and antec has been moving to manufacture in house and assemble overseas. just some useless trivia
-
how do we know that the antec case was stolen from chieftec?
-
looks like the antec case u know that even with all that size it doesnt fit a dual p4 xeon board
