that is correct there is detailed instructions on this website for making a xp sp1 install cd. (this is a great website) i made one and it works 100% better than a install/w web update

they arent marketing anything look at the marketing campaign they have against intel's the average american buys whatever they see on tv. the rest of us with a brain will buy intel 8)

when i upgraded xp sp1 i had a problem when i did a clean sp1 (slipstreamed) install i havent had the problem... YET! the slipstreamed xp sp1 works a billion percent better than a upgrade for the machines ive worked with. as for the chipset... it's an intel sunthin sunthin prolly a 440 family (guess)

yep on my omnibook 500 (xp only) it worked for awhile then started in with the errors mostly like the ones u have. i reinstalled xp and the problem hasnt come back yet.

the processors arent that expensive but x2 then the supporting equipment usually is quite a bit more

good point i just disabled and rebooted still seems ok ill disable at home and see if there is a difference there.
