ive had zero problems with xp pro i dont use via or amd either. never had a game, driver, app, or hardware fail to execute properly

i heard the volcano was very good for cool but sounds like a jet idleing in the front yard

true nt had dx emulators sp4 supported dx6. but honetly dx only games ran like crapola gl games ran pretty nice (quake1 woo hoo) im glad w2k and xp included full dx support btw w2k originally wasnt supposed to have directx but many people complained (including me) and they added it. engineers need playtime too

nt 3+4 are open gl only and wav only

i like the card reader better because it acts like another hard drive just plug it into the front usb and BAM! h drive

some cameras dont support usb in winxp (my polaroid) what i did at first was use adobe photoshop to aquire the photos and d/l em 1 at a time. that worked although it wasnt "supposed" to then i got a 128 meg cf card so there is no freaking way im gonna d/l 200 pictures 1 at a time. so i got a cf usb card reader. works *****en and fast as heck.

back to the original problem... is disk logging active did u instal ms office's llama find fast? the 2 together wreak havoc

looks like most of the posts it seems that many of the problems with xp are from people with amd/via. i have intel/intel and have never had any of these problems.

does anyone with an intel chip and non via have problems with xp?

yea there is a way manually install the mouse drivers. i.e. logitek unzip the mouseware.exe file and install just the drivers in comp management

supermicro p4dc6+ http://www.supermicro.com/product/motherboards/860/P4DC6+.htm requires a different ps and case but it has everything

300 watts is pleanty fine for that. remember on SOME boards if u oc the processor it also oc's the agp buss. adding power to the agp is pretty bad... specially if your vid card is oc'ed.

supermicro p4dc6+ it's a monster ata100, scsi 160 x2, raid, lan, it's got everything, takes a different power supply for xeons and a bigger case

that mouse thing is a new one on me. i had the problem on win9x when i used the logitec mouseware. but now i manually install the drivers without the mouseware and the problem has gone away

thats one thing i hated about xp pro but all those rollback, and theme things can be changed so my xp pro looks very much like win2k or nt4
