Messenger Service unable to start error #2280
Jerry Atrik replied to Curley_Boy's topic in Networking
there is a place in the group policy where u can turn it on and off. default is not configured (allowed to start) gpedit.msc computer config\admin templates\windows components\ windows messenger unless someone manually changed it that shouldnt be the problem. also the service is dependent on the plugnplay, workstation and rpc services so if any of those are turned off it wont start. thats all i can think of right now -
try getting setup with a vpn at work then u can do both

modyfying the Thermal take Xblower speed controll
Jerry Atrik replied to CreationZ's topic in Slack Space
it's the same exact thing that u did but instead of plugging it into the mobo u plug it into the big power connectors coming from the power supply. the same connector that u use to plug into the hard drives etc. the power is the same but the direct line to the power supply has the amps u need to do what u want -

Jerry Atrik replied to CreationZ's topic in Slack Space
i see whats prolly happening is that the amp loading of the fan and the resistance of the rheostat is overloading the 12v header. u could switich it to the 12v coming out of the ps should help -

for clarity im mp and h/t it's gotta be different than sp h/t im not seeing a time difference with 2 threads and realtime. pretty standard to normal. normal being 1 or 2 threads no slowdown, 3 threads 3-7% slower and 4 threads 7-10% slower. slower than 4 threads on 4 cpus but still much faster than 1 cpu to do 4 projects or 2 cpu's to do 2.
-
i run the folding at home distributed computing. i just turned it to realtime and the cycles got a little slower. it's running 4 threads at 100% cpu usage. ill play with some other configs and see how it all goes.
