Adam, I have gotten the error both ways. The install was new several months ago and I am pretty careful about installing things. I just installed sp3 in the last two weeks but got the error both before and after the service pack install. I just downloaded and tried to install the latest Belkin driver and it seems to find only the driver in the C:\winnt\inf directory even though I point it towards the C:\belkin directory. I then get a message about Microsoft signed drivers stating that this one is not. Is there an option to only use Microsoft signed drivers that I may have accidentally set? Thanks,

I have tried to install 2 different nic's (Belkin F5D5000 and a Linksys LNE100TX) and a Cisco PC350 Airnet card in a WIN2K SP3 machine with no luck. Each time I receive a message that the driver data is invalid or not of the expected type. The device then shows in Device Manager under other devices as not configured correctly, Code 1 My system has an ECS K7S5A mb, 512 mb of Kingston PC2100 ddr, running W2K SP3, Leadtek Geoforce 2 MX Video w/32mb and a SB 512 pci sound, AMD 1800XP+(not overclocked) and the bios is currently set to a PnP operating system. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve

I would prefer to set everything up on the win2k machine but the cisco PC350 wireless card refuses to install. States invalid data in driver. I have dl'd a new driver from the cisco site but get the same problem. works fine in the the 98se machine so i am forced to use it. since i'm using a wireless lan card i do not see a way to use a hardware router although that would be my preference. and of course enabling the ics on the win98se machine gives me a file that states it is only compatible with 98 or earlier. i have had no luck with the linkbyte(comtun) software so am now going to evaluate wingate and winproxy. anybody have any preferences for those two as far as ease of use and difficulty in setup. i am already using a static non-routable address from my isp.

Mozilla=Web Browser I absolutely refuse to use IE unless there is no choice.

Will the ics work with mozilla? The main reason that I was using the win98se machine was to have something relatively inexpensive to repair running instead of having one of the win2k machines running. If need be I can load win2k on the 3rd machine and enable ics on it also. Thanks

I am trying to setup a workgroup to alllow shared access to a wireless broadband internet connection. The ISP does provide for multiple mailboxes. I have an evaluation version of Linkbyte(Comtun) to use for this purpose. My questions are as follows: 1. Is it better(easier) to use static addresses for the workgroup as opposed to DHCP? 2. Can you use DHCP on a workgroup with 2 Win2k machines and a Win98 machine as the proxy server? The only thing that will be on the win98se machine is the operating system and the proxy server software, Linkbyte. According to the manual for the Linkbyte software it is a lot easier to configure with DHCP. I have a peer to peer workgroup running between the 2 win2k machines now using a 4 port hub. Ideally I will have an 8 port switch running that will allow me to plug in my laptop in other rooms in the house for internet access and printer sharing. The laptop is on win98se also and I have two other rooms wired for access. Thanks in advance.
