XP vs. 2000 with a hint of Linux

I read the same report that other dude did about Linux having more security flaws than windows, But i guess he missed the part where MS paid for that test. can we say buying the judge? or contest fixing?

    VM Ware...your thoughts?

I have used VMware since the beginning, never really had any problems except when I was trying to run lycoris inside of vmware, i got no video after the install was done. but other than that, its great if you have enought RAM.

    Grand Theft Auto 3

Marktait, i have the 7ixe4 also, but i have an 850mhz athlon, i had to change my clock speed, then it was great. now i run at 750mhz but its working fantastic. I have another PC with the geforce2 mx 200, it works fine, but thats a pentium pc. might want to play with your mobo clock speed? i run xp as well.

    DirectX 9

It was a mess, but finally got it to work. here was my situation... GA-7ixe4 mobo, (now) ATI Radeon 7500 64meg AGP card, Athlon 850mhz, 768mb ram. to make a VERY long story short, I had tried different AGP cards, no luck, put in a bigger power supply, no go, updated drivers like mad, nada... lowered the clock speed on my mobo, WAMO! gta3 ran like mad, perfect, so my 850 now runs at 750mhz, that mobo didnt like 8xx mhz proc's. im sure overclocking would work too, but dont have the money to replace if anything frys or the cooling system (married with children) But anyway, that fixed my problem, changing the clock speed. another thing i noticed, not sure if its the card or what i did, but RTCW plays much faster and its grafics are now out of this world. it played decent before though, just much better now.

XP vs. 2000 with a hint of Linux

I have used linux for games, it works good basically, had a problem once with having to update opengl for Quake3. I wouldnt even use windows if it wasnt for my wife wanting it. I think linux is a great game OS personally. as for ready for the main stream, no, its not ready, and I only say that because there are so many people out there that dont know how to use it, and so many that couldnt figure it out if they tried. I do use windows for games still, but thats just beacuse I have to have windows anyway. I did get JK2 to install on linux using winex and that did far better than i had expected. Linux's advantage is its flaw, for mainstream. Its so customizable and lets the user do ANYTHING they want (and sometimes dont want) While you can do SO much with it, it also doesnt warn you if you are about to do something stupid (bad for the ID10T users)
