I have an Intel Play ME2 Cam. Intel is not making drivers for Windows XP. I have seen on the homepage of this website where you can download drivers for it. I downloaded the drivers for it and now I do not know where to extract the files to. Also, drivers are installed on Windows XP to where you can access them through the Add New Hardware Wizard. I get into where it is installing the drivers and the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) Screen comes up and my computer restarts. Can anybody help me? Thanks for all of your help.

I had the same prob. I just reinstalled Win. XP It got rid of all of my tweaks. ;( Also, it slowed down the startup of MSN Explorer. M$ just loves to PO their customers.

I just recently set up a home network. I like to work on the computer that is not set up as the server computer(the one in my signature). I was wondering if it is possible to access the server when it is on standby. I have tried it and it doesn't seem to work. Is there a way to do this? Also, I have McAfee Firewall (the one included with VirusScan 6.0) and I am having problems getting information from the server computer when it is enabled[Firewall that is]. I have set it in the options so that it can use NetBIOS (which enables me to be able to access other shares on different computers and for them to share off of mine). I now don't use it just so I can have the network set up. I would like to use it. Can anyone help me with these probs.? Thanks a lot. 8)

I have heard that you should not install Service Pack 1. It slows down your comp. I also have heard that more people have had probs. with Service Pack 1 then what they did before they installed it. I suggest that you reinstall Windows or if their is a way to uninstall SP1 do that. I just knew SP1 was bad news. I haven't installed it on any of my comps. 8)

I just installed Partition Magic Pro 7.0 and partitioned my 2 HD's. The HD that Windows XP is on I partitioned it into 2. The 2nd HD I partitioned it into 4. These are all logical partitions. Anyway that worked out fine. Then I got into a program I think was called Boot Magic (included w/ Partition Magic Pro). It automatically restarted my computer. When it tried to start it up it went into the HP PC System Recovery and it came up with the BSOD. It said: STOP: C000021a {Fatal System Error} The Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000003a (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut down. I forgot to mention that this is an HP Pavilion with Win. XP already on it. Can anyone help me??? Thx. :x

Thanks, but I finally got it fixed after messing around with it for a few hours. I put the drive and Partition Magic Pro on my other comp that has XP. I found out the HP PC System Recovery was set as the active partition when the other partition that had Windows on it was supposed to be active. So I set the Windows partition as active threw it back in the comp. that I am now using and it works perfectly. :x

My HP came with only one HD. I installed the other one. Yes, the restore thing is one a hidden partition and then Win. XP is on another partition. And no I didn't alter what partition XP was on. It stayed as C:/ and the new partition was I:/. I put the drive in my other HP Pavilion as a slave and it comes up with nothing on it. It says that the drive's capacity is 16.4gb. So the other two partitions (one with the recovery and the one with Windows)are hidden and I cannot access them through this computer. Also, I installed Partition Magic on my other computer and that program is not called BootMagic. It is called PQ Boot. I think that I selected the System Recovery thing to boot and that is why it is screwed up. That is a dangerous utility if you don't read it closely. 8)

I would like to overclock my computer. Does anybody know how to do it? I would like it to be a very easy to do. I know that my processor is an Athlon 1.4, but I do not know what it is. What I mean is that I do not know if it is a T-bird or whatever other names of processors there are. All I know is some of the specs which is located @ http://www.hp.com/cposupport/personal_computing/support_doc/bph06794.html#P7_160. THANKS!!!!

I know how that goes about not finding a mobo. I was looking for the Asus A7A266 because it supports SDRAM and DDR. I really didn't want to go out and buy DDR when I just bought 512mb SDRAM. Anyways, if you know where I can find it for cheap (talking $50 USD) please tell me or if you know of any other mobo that is nice and supports both SDRAM and DDR. Please tell me. Thx. 8)

Yeah, that is what I have been told. I am going to get an Asus A7A266 or Asus A7A266-E. The reason is because it takes SDRAM and DDR and it has been reviewed very well on OCing.

What is the best graphics card that is under $150,at least 64mb of RAM, and goes in the PCI slot? Sorry, I put this in the wrong forum. Please see the forum in the hardware section please.

I have an HP Pavilion Xt983 and a 540n. I was wondering if they could be overclocked. The XT983 has an HP Santa Fe mobo in it which I believe was made by that crappy Korean company, Trigem and has 5 visible jumpers on it. They read J1,J3,J9,J10,J11. The BIOS does not have a multiplier in it. Is this comp overclockable? As for my 540n, it does have a multiplier in the BIOS. I set it @ 24x. I do not konw the mobo or the jumpers in it but does anybody know about it? Thx for the help. 8)

I have an HP and I get newsletters from them. In the newsletter I got for August it had an article about how to partition your hard drive without going out to buy an expensive program. So I figured I try it. It says that you need to go to the control panel to create a boot disk in the Add/Remove Programs thing. It says find the start disk tab to create a boot disk. I go to that and I do not find it. So I figured what the heck I can make a DOS bootdisk by right-clicking on A:/ , clicking format on that menu, and telling it to create a DOS boot disk. I do that and restart it and it brings up DOS. It says to type in fdisk. I type in fdisk and it says that it is not found. Does anybody know how to do this or what my problem is. If so please respond. I appreciate all of your help. Also, the website is http://www.homeandoffice.hp.com/hho/us/eng/partitioning_harddrive.html This is on a system that is running XP Home. :x

Also, I forgot to mention this. Seeing it is an HP it comes with XP Home on a hidden partition of the drive! ;( I just hate HP! I am going to get a case and a new motherboard and make my system sometime. Hopefully.

Would like to make my own PC. I know how to, but I saw that this comp. with the 17" monitor was only $400 USD I just couldn't pass it up. Plus I do not have the time to make my own PC.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I want for performance and speed.

I have a prob. and I was wondering if anybody could help me with it. Well it seems that when I try to install another CD-ROM or DVD-ROM that it gets rid of one of my other drives. Such as my CD-RW in the Master or my 2nd Hard Drive. It does not read anything from the drive or the drives it removed. Also, I have made sure that all of the pins are set correctly and that the cables are nice and snug. It used to work until I flashed my DVD-ROM. I flashed it because I could not get it to play any DVD's. Could anybody help me? Thanks for your help. :x **You may have seen this earlier last month. Did not get much response so I figured that I would post it again.***

I tried all of the pin setting and the DVD still did not work. I think that flashing it made the drive toast. I finally got the other CD-ROM to work. So I have it in there now until I get a new DVD. Which will be new with the drivers this time. I tried to install the DVD on my old comp. with Win. 98 and it did not pick it up on that either. So I believe that that was my prob. I still do not understand why flashing it screwed it up. I know it was the right flash. I made sure that it was by looking @ the drive's label on top of it. I am never going to flash a removable drive again!

I was planning on putting the partition on drive E which is my secondary HD. I also have gotten pretty good about taking the HP apart. To put in memory now it only takes about 10 min. but, it should only take me at the most five. I still hate the way that they are designed. ;( Also, I went to the websites that you said crazy. Thanks for the help but that did not work either. The link from M$ is what is on the Help and Support Center. I am going to try to use fdisk on the other comp. with ME. PS---I HATE Win. ME!!!

I have tried to create a partition in Computer Management. I could not figure out how to do it. I even got directions from the help and support center program on my comp. I thought that the easiest way to do it was throught command prompt. I tried to do it through it and it would not let me create it. I did exactly what it told me to do. Can anybody give me directions? I would appreciate it.

I am beginning to believe that HP does not know what they are talking about either because they say that the only OS that will run on my XE-748 is ME. I doubt that. I am going to try it anyways. They also say that the 700mhz CPU cannot be upgraded any more than 700mhz. I think that it is total bull! Also, XP does have Disk Management because that is how I installed my second HD. If you want to see what I am talking about click on the following link: http://www.hp.com/cposupport/personal_computing/support_doc/bph05970.html

Will try what both of you said. I hope it helps. No, I don't think that I have the BIOS for my motherboard because it is OEM. I will request it from HP. Also, I do not have the driver for the DVD. I bought it used on eBay without the drivers. It worked on another comp. though. I wish myself good luck. I am going to try to work on it this afternoon.
