Since your running your Terminal Server in application mode (vs. administration mode) you will need CALs to be compliant, in addition to a licensing server. At least that's my intrepation of it, I only use TS for administration mode here. I'll see if I can dig up a real answer for you, rather than my intrepration of the licensing terms.

Personally, I have fully migrated my PC at home to Fedora Core 2, from Windows XP. I have chosen to find native applications which are similar to Windows programs that I frequently used, rather than try to emulate using Wine/Winex/Cedega, etc. If you're determined, and don't mind learning (or giving up some games) then I would absolutely recommend this. If you do, remember to keep an open mind, because you basically need to re-learn using your computer. Also remember this; Just because Microsoft does things one way does not make it the right/best way.

Since the Action Pack is subject to different licensing terms than retail or volume license media, likely there may have been an issue mastering the CDs. I would suggest contacting Microsoft and requesting replacement media. Also, you may want to check on the CD file system if there is a EULA.txt or something to that effect. Likely with the Action Pack, it could just be renamed, and the setup routine has not been modified accordingly.

Try upgrading/reinstalling your graphics drivers.

Here's what I think, saberquill. The difference that the BIOS is seeing is 1KB=1000 Bytes, instead of 1KB=1024 Bytes, which is correct. As for task manager reporting 480MB, I would bet with a 99% certianty that you have an intergrated video card that is using 32MB of "shared" RAM. Assuming I am correct, what you report would be normal.

Normally I would suggest upgrading your video drivers, but Voodoo has been out of business for about 3+ years now, so likely any drivers that you could find could really be hit or miss. For best support/drivers, you'll need to replace your video card with something more current.

Have you tried applying this to the default domain policy (or your applicable OU) on your DC?

This will work fine. Just boot from your Windows Server 2003 installation media. It will create a boot menu where you can choose which OS to boot into.

Likely the school admin(s) have blocked unprivleged port access at the firewall/proxy server. You could talk to them, but ultimately, you'll probably be forced to get your own ISP/BSP connection for gaming.

I'm not an expert about NetBIOS/master browser service, but it would seem like you want to forcefully set one of the Windows 98 PCs as the master browser. I did read that. Creating an ISO (or otherwise "imaging" your original CD) is in violation of the EULA, and probably also a violation of the DMCA (assuming you're in the US), as it would constitute breaking of the copy protection mechanisms. Also, please don't resort to name-calling. I post here on my own free time to help others, of no benefit to myself.

Sounds like a NetBIOS/master browser issue. Check to ensure that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled on the Windows 2000 Professional PC. Let us know if that helps. Also, are you running any firewall software on the 2k machine?

Check your event logs, and post anything that indicates a Warning or Error.

The easiest way would be to replace the computer. Otherwise, you would need to individually replace at least the processor (assuming the motherboard supported a faster processor), video card, and RAM. That would be just to meet the minimum system specifications. Edit: Should you choose to do so, make sure you bring a copy of the minimum system requirements for The Sims 2, to ensure that the new system meets or exceeds those. Specifically, you'll want to make sure that the graphics card (typically an ATI or Nvidia) is on the Maxis-supported list. As I have said before, The Sims 2 is a 3D game, and as such, it needs a powerful 3D graphics accelerator. Most older brand-name computers (HP, Compaq, Dell, etc.) unless they have been upgraded will not meet this requirement.

MB = Megabytes, refers to space/quantity of storage. MHz = Megahertz, refers to speed (specifically, cycles per second), usually of processors.

I propose that you buy the game and use the original game CD. This board is not, nor has it ever been, nor will it ever be a place to seek/provide assistance with circumventing copy protection measures.

Sounds like you bought a pirated copy. A *.nri file is a Nero ISO CD-ROM Compilation. If it were me? I would contact EA directly, probably something like piracy@ea.com and give them the complete details. That said, you're pretty much out of luck with that copy, you'll need to purchase a legitimate copy.

Could be that you have a remote access trojan installed, too. Better get it checked out.
