Another chance to plug VNC.

You could try installing the Windows Installer 2.0 update, but that is included in SP3. Are you trying to install with Administrator rights?
-
Some sound advice from Christian. But since you already have the full package, you can just run the installer. It should only update the SPx files.
-
Heh. Is there an echo in here?

Honestly, I don't know, I haven't used Opera... You could try doing a search for a custom/default css... I'll try installing Opera in the next few days and check it out.

Hmm, Silent Hill 2, as well.

Undying may make the list...

You can't get there from here... Wireless LAN question
adamvjackson replied to GTwannabe's topic in Networking
Or, since you already have ICS set up and configured, all you need is a wireless access point, and a desktop card. 802.11b is probably the most cost effective, and will provide you with 11Mb/S peak bandwidth. -
I need Windows 95/Me versions of these dlls.

I'm pretty sure that some/most of those listed are in the MS VB runtime libaries, which you can get from download.microsoft.com. -
Indeed, this is the first multi-desktop manager I've seen that doesn't suck...

Problems with a Realtek NIC (on MB) and 3com switch

Try this, just for the sake of argument... http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;299357 How to Reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in Windows XP Code: netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt From a cmd prompt. -
Shocking Computer Performance
adamvjackson replied to philbarnes's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Personally, I don't place much weight on benchmarks... Variance of ~10% IIRC is normal with most any benchmark. What's important, is does it seem to be running faster, and more stable? -
Problems with a Realtek NIC (on MB) and 3com switch
adamvjackson replied to philbarnes's topic in Networking
Have you tried another port on the router/switch? I've seen some bad ports. Also, IIRC, cat5 can run 100 meters (~385 feet) with no problems, without a hub, switch, repeater, etc. -
As I personally have never used that drive, what I suspect is after installing the software, you get a service or agent running in the background or as a scheduled task. Pressing the button would initiate the queued backup. The flash product tour wasn't that informative on the Maxtor site. I figure that it would work, with the only possible limitation being that the backup software may not be able to image from mapped network shares/drives. Perhaps a recursive script/batch file would help there, though, copying to the local machine first, if necessary. Edit: Not sure how clear that was, but I suspect the hardware will work. There may be some limitations with the software, as it's OEM/bundled, but I think that can be worked around.

I think Jerry Atrick has the right idea. Perhaps installing Windows XP's fast user switching on the boss's PC, assuming he's running XP, of course, with a dummy account. You still could have the network storage device, and map all the "My Documents". Only limiting factor would be requiring the end users to save everything in "My Documents". Perhaps you could create a local policy, but for all systems varying OSs, that would be a pain.

Problems with a Realtek NIC (on MB) and 3com switch
adamvjackson replied to philbarnes's topic in Networking
Did it work correctly previously? If so, what has changed since then? If not, try up[censored] firmwares on the NIC and the router/switch. Also, are you running vendor-specific drivers or generic drivers for your NIC? -
Not sure if Norton's disk doctor will test or not, it's been quite a long time since I had that installed. Due to the filesystem of NT/2000/XP, exclusive disk access is disallowed. You'll see there that only when you check the option to automatically fix errors do you get a reboot/schedule prompt. Hope that helps.
-
I have two Maxtor D740X's running 24x7 here, no problems... Seem like high quality drives.
-
You could just schedule a disk check upon the next reboot, where exclusive access to the drive is permitted.

Here's a pair of screenshots, one with Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1, and the other Phoenix 0.5 with the above listed userContent.css applied.

Can the provider see Cable Modem connection sharing?
adamvjackson replied to Tomay's topic in Networking
Jasbo, you're right about the original poster just wanting a router, I guess I let my mind wander. If you haven't already, you may be interested in checking out http://www.linuxcompatible.org. It's NT Compatible's sister site, and the user database is shared, so there's no need to re-register. Also, there are several of us who are also interested in Linux/BSD solutions. Welcome to the forums!
