Can the provider see Cable Modem connection sharing?
adamvjackson replied to Tomay's topic in Networking
Wouldn't a caching/proxy server such as ISA be able to circumvent that? All port 80 requests would be forwarded to a single IP, the ISA server... -
RAID or SCSI setup after pressing F6

Interesting. Last I had heard, some Lite-On drives with German firmware could copy most SafeDisc2 games, but to be honest, you're better off buying the game.

Making Slipstreamed WinXP CD - A Few Queries

Now the next step, of course, is to create a custom RIS image, and deploy that... -
Heh, I've been using Phoenix for 3 or 4 months, and I love it. I only use IE now for MSFT sites (Windows Update, etc.). I personally like to kill popups, ads, etc. with the browser, rather than a third party utility. On a sidenote, I stumbled across a neat .css for Phoenix (presumably Mozilla, too) that removes some, if not most, banner ads. If anyone is interested, I can post the contents here.

Personally, I would recommend AOM, but I haven't played Generals.

You can register slayerui.dll, that will provide a compatibility tab on your shortcuts. Read more information at the MSKB, article Q279792.

Thanks for the pictures.. Really quite interesting. As suggested, I would try to get in touch with an Intel rep from your region. Perhaps even a sales rep would be a good place to start. Frequently, on weekends, I see an Intel rep at stores such as Circuit City and Best Buy, if you don't see one, perhaps a drone working there would know how you could get in touch with one.

According to the article on Slashdot, this was done so Microsoft could enter the server consolidation market.

Sweet, thanks!

I'd like to see that, any chance you can post a picture? As Bursar said, it would probably be fine to mount the HSF directly on the core, but one thing to be somewhat concerned about would be any gaps. The stock HSF is machined to allow for the heat spreader thickness, so there may be less than optimal contact.

BladeRunner, that'd be a great idea. Unfortunately, I don't think it will happen any time soon.

It is a problem, when you have paper techs who have no idea how to troubleshoot, or do much of anything that they don't recall from their 'boot camp'.

We Stand Passively Mute by US Senator Robert Byrd (cleared)
adamvjackson replied to felix's topic in Slack Space
Nothing personal, Felix, but I have seen many discussions quicky go downhill when those topics are brought up. -
I have Microsoft® Wheel Mouse Optical. Had it about a year, works great, inexpensive, too. I personally would stay away from wireless, as I personally don't care for them. I hear the new Microsoft 'Blue' line is very nice though.

You could try this registry tweak... Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]"CoolBits"=dword:00000003

I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that with SP3 and newer, there would only be hotfixes for IE 5.01... I don't recall where I read this, can someone confirm or deny? Perhaps it was in the SP4 release notes... That would make sense as 2000 came with IE 5.01.

One part of securing a system is to change the BIOS boot order to HDD first, and add a strong BIOS setup password... That would prevent against this.

Good deal, so I'm sure it looks much better at the correct resolution? Thanks for letting us know the fix.

I just noticed something... Your post here indicates that you're having problem with another machine, too... A desktop, I suspect. This got me thinking... I am curious as to how 'clean' the incoming power is to your location... Do you have UPS(s) that the PCs are connected to? Maybe someone who reads this is an EE and can verify this, but I suspect that RAM is one of the first things to go when there are brownouts/dirty power. At any rate, I would test the RAM on the other PC as well. Perhaps the RAM in both machines is fine, but by testing them it's ruled out as a point of failure... Anyone have thoughts or comments on that thoery?
