Never heard of that problem, are you certian that the .icc's didn't come with a video/monitor driver? While it's not impossible, I doubt that MS would remove some color profiles in a SP.

How to completely remove Internet Explorer 6 from XP system?
adamvjackson replied to gisot's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Best as I can recommend, install SP1 for XP, install the new browser and JVM (as needed) and change the 'Program Access and Defaults' as appropriate. To remove IE6 from XP would break the shell (explorer.exe) and you would lose much of the functionality. -
Have you had a chance to try another monitor connected to your laptop? I suspect that the HP monitor may be trying to draw some power from the VGA port. I actually saw a monitor once that was not plugged into the wall, only to a desktop computer, and the green power LED illuminated. I believe, if my memory serves me correctly, that was an HP monitor. Anyway, there's my $0.02. Hope that helps.

What are you looking to tweak? Boot time? Available memory? I recommend that you read up on the .NET Server services and you can selectively enable and disable as you see fit. As for the web server, IIS in .NET is locked down pretty tight, so you'll have to be fairly certian of what you're doing in order to get it working properly. As far as TweakXP and related programs, I personally dislike these, I would rather learn how to make adjustments to the system with the OS tools, such as Regedit, etc. Once I have found a registry setting that performs as needed, I often export it and add it to a .reg file, that way when I rebuild the OS next time, all I have to do is merge the .reg file with the registry.

CPU and GPUs are completely different architectures, and have different instruction sets, that's why.

I always use Mozilla, and never get any popups... -
If the password is stored on the system, you can use this to recover it, FYI.

Sharing my comp with another keyboard, mouse and monitor?

If you're looking for a remote access software solution, I recommend VNC. -
Works fine here, in the same config (Win2k & 5.0). Are you using CTRL+C and CTRL+V or are you using the right-click context menu?

Hello everyone, after using VMware workstation (3.2) for a while, I thought it might be a good idea to add a second NIC to my primary machine, only for VMware's use, so my primary adapter doesn't have to be bridged anymore. I have everything installed, and my 1st (primary) NIC has the VMware Bridge Protocol unchecked, and the 2nd (vmware) NIC has it checked. So I checked in VMware's settings, and I can't seem to find a way to use the physical 2nd NIC, without bridging the adapter, which I'd like to avoid, if possible. All seems fine, except when I do not have a VM running, Windows will switch back and forth between which NIC is used (for downloads, etc.) I think disabling the TCP/IP stack on the 2nd NIC would force Windows to use the 1st NIC, but I'm sure that would affect the bridging to the VM. So, does anyone have any ideas on if it's possible to specify that NIC 2 is only used by the VM? By the way, the host OS is Windows 2000, SP3, and the guest OS varies, anything from Linux to .NET Server, etc. Thanks, Adam

In case no one had said so, only XP Professional will connect to a domain controller, FYI.

You're running MSN Messenger 5, right? Not Windows Messenger (XP)

If you just installed it, you have nothing to lose, except time; I would try restarting the computer with the XP CD and try running a 'Repair'.

How to completely remove Internet Explorer 6 from XP system?
adamvjackson replied to gisot's topic in Everything New Technology
Probably the closest thing would be to install the browser of your choice, JVM (if necessary) and XP SP1, and choose to set program access defaults to the new browser and JVM. IE (6) is so tightly intergrated into the shell and explorer.exe that it's if you are able to remove it, you would lose some shell functionality, and it would be a hacked up mess, to put it simply. Personally, I use Mozilla, and just set it to the default browser in Windows 2000, and I haven't had to go back to IE yet. -
Quote: Yeah, but you don't know 'when' they added that version. Well, if you really wanted to know, you could get the time/date stamp of the file on the Windws 2000 CD. Quote: It would probably be worth reloading the site driver. Can't hurt. I agree, but it wasn't on HP's site, and neither is the driver for the 550C that you recommended. Quote: Otherwise you try to find a driver that is close to the 720c that he has. I did look for quite some time, to be honest, but since I didn't find anything, I didn't post. Nothing on DriverGuide either. Quote: Incidently, is the 720c usb or LPT? Based upon the age of the printer, it has to be a parallel interface. The latest driver, according to HP, is version 10.3, released May 10, 1999; FYI. My opinion? It's an old printer, time to upgrade if the Microsoft drivers are not cutting the mustard. That printer was developed in the Windows 3.1 era.

If you follow that link, you'll see a notice that the current driver is included with Windows 2000, FYI.

how do disable net send message receiving?
adamvjackson replied to iq-negative's topic in Networking
Blocking the ports would effectively be disabling it, though, and given that most firewalls have limited numbers of ports that can be blocked, it'd be a better solution just to disable the service. -
As far as price to performance, I would recommend Lite-On drives. You can usually pick up the OEM versions fairly inexpensive. Lite-On CDRW drives are also fully supported by CloneCD, if you're interested.

Also, here's a list of cheats: All Weapons, Unlimited Ammo, NoCLip, etc: To get access to the game console, you need to start maxpayne.exe with the command line parameter "-developer". Once you have the game running in developer mode, you get access to the game console with F12. coder god mortal c_addhealth (100) GetAllWeapons GetInfiniteAmmo Mortal ShowFPS SetWoundedState SetNormalState NoClip NoClip_off GetBaseballbat GetBeretta GetBerettaDual GetDualBeretta GetDesertEagle GetSawedShotgun GetPumpShotgun GetJackhammer GetIngram GetIngramDual GetDualIngram GetMP5 GetColtCommando GetMolotov GetGrenade GetM79 GetSniper GetHealth GetPainkillers GetBulletTime View all models: Instead of -developer use -developerkeys and in the game use F11 to bring up statistics and PGUP and PGDOWN to change character model. You can select everyone in the game, but you can't use F12 to use normal cheats. This is for fun only All Level's: Start the game whit -Developers , now press F11 OR F12 to bring the console in the window bar , and type some codes Below: GetGranadeUn - Get granade ,unlimited AMMO AllWeaponUn - Get All Weapon's,Unlimited AMMO Take Screenshots: To take screenshots in the game you have to type in "-screenshot" as the command line parameter (C:\Max Payne\maxPayne.exe -screenshot). Then when you are playing press F10 to take a screenshot. Go Through Doors: Start maxpayne with maxpayne.exe -developer then press F12 to bring down the console. Type in noclip Then go Trough doors, if not works try trowing yourself trough them.... To go normal again type noclip_off

Add the -developer after the end " mark. Such as: "C:\Program Files\Max Payne\maxpayne.exe" -developer
