EasyRecovery Pro works well on NTFS.

For heavy internet and games which is better WinXP/Win2k?

What I meant was offical MS support, and it can vary from case to case on backwards compatiblilty. My understanding is that 2k/XP is not the same code, but very similar.
  3. C:\Windows2 or whatever is fine... You can install to the same drive, but I would recommend against it, as there could be some file location problems when programs are installed, etc.

Please help for setup CDR100(Yamaha) at WIndows2000 pro

So what did you have to do to fix it?
  5. Install Windows 2000, then install XP in a different folder or partition. The built-in boot loader will set up a boot menu automagically for you.

Well, try highlighting it with the mouse cursor, that should invert the text color, possibly making it easier to read... Not my site... Actually, the site owner was on TechTV's Screen Savers about 2 months ago.

    2 screens with xp

Quote: one more thing!! good luck if you have an integrated VGA or you have it on a labtop. you are stock with it forever!!!! If you have a good desktop motherboard with intergrated video, often times you can either: A. Disable onboard video B. Use onboard video for a second monitor Food for thought.

Which operating system for my system?

I agree with you, Pr-Man, for now. However, XP will be supported after 2k is no longer supported, provided Microsoft's product life expectancy tables remain unchanged.
  9. Heh heh, but MSCONFIG wasn't included with Win2k...

    Modem problem in XP.

FYI, the only external modems that are 'soft' are USB-based. I got the impression that the original poster had a serial modem. Anyway, for the original poster, have you checked the BIOS settings to ensure that the com port(s) are enabled? Is the com port set to 16550 UART (check in device manager)? Have you installed the latest chipset drivers? From what I recall about Conexant, there's a 'generic' driver that they publish, but there's also a disclaimer recommending the modem reseller's driver is used. Just for clairification, did you install the reseller's driver, too?

    Outlook Express backing up quesiton....

I think recommending different email clients at this point is a moot issue, the original poster just needs to get the data from a backup.

    AC97 Tone Controls..

A quick Google search turned this up: Open Windows registry by typing run regedit.exe and then choose Hkey_Local_machine/ System/ Current Control Set/ Services/ Class/ Media/ 0001/ config, then change "Allow Tone Controls for AC97" from 00 to 01 , save & re-boot.

MS to limit where Office 11 can go

Speaking of the paperclip, I saw this video clip a while back. Good for a laugh, but if you're offended by profanity, you probably don't want to watch this.

    Motherboard Problem

Honestly, I'm not shocked.... A lot of online retailers are quite... difficult.... about returning processors. Replace the 'difficult' as you see fit.

OFFICE XP PRO ERROR 1328 under Win XP Pro

Hmm.. I've got to walk a fine line with this post... My understanding is, as everyone knows, Microsoft has banned the use of some CD keys with Windows XP SP1. This is common knowledge, and I remember reading similar stories with Office 2000, when SP1 was released. If the CD key used on your install was one of the well-distributed keys, you can bet that the CD key is blacklisted. I also echo what BladeRunner said, and there are some reasonable free alternatives. I recently installed OpenOffice, and I was quite impressed. Perhaps you should look into it. As a final comment, just because you point and click rather than shoplift, doesn't mean that you're not breaking the law. The intention of this post was not to point fingers or to start an arguement, I apologize if it came out that way.

For heavy internet and games which is better WinXP/Win2k?

As I have said before, if you must buy one, buy WinXP, as it will be supported longer. If you already have both, then it's really a toss up. IMO, you really can't go wrong with either.

Sounds like a bad CPU to me.

Enabling DMA 100 under Windows 2000

Well, the drives will run at the same speed, you'd just be more likely to hit the top end of the bandwidth limitation, if you frequently copy/move large files between the two drives.

is this caused by servicepack 1?

Have you tried reinstalling the Divx 5 Bundle (Player, Codec)?

Motherboard Monitor should do the trick.

    Outlook Express backing up quesiton....

I personally am not familiar with that piece of software, perhaps someone else is. Whenever I backup/restore OE/Outlook, I just use the built-in export command. If you can find out the file extention, please post it... I bet something can be worked out.
