What os/service packs are running on the client machines? Perhaps all that is necessary is to install the high-encryption pack or SP2 for Windows 2000.

2 Thumbs up.

What file format (extention) is the backup in? It's been a while since I've used OE, as I have personally switched to Outlook XP, but you should be able to use the 'Import...' command, depending on what file format you exported. Or, did you just copy the file from \%Username%\Application Data\Outlook Express\

Will a AMD Athlon XP 2200+ work in a Asus A7V133-C (KT133A)?

Yes.... generally the board autodetects the cpu frequency, multiplier, front side bus, and core voltage. There can be exceptions, of course, but generally the bios selects the correct values. -

And if booting from the 2k cd doesn't work, buy a copy of PowerQuest PartitionMagic 8... It can do just about anything disk/partition/format related, generally better than the MS utilities, too. -
Have you created accounts with the exact username as both 98 boxes on the winxp machine? Are you using passwords or are the passwords blank?

How are your case/cpu/gpu temps?

I personally use NVmax 4 and the 30.82's... but I'll upgrade the drivers when they are out of beta and WHQL-Certified.

I would imagine it would be automatic, as the multiplier should be locked on the processor. -
PayPal comes to mind, although I can't think of any others off the top of my head...

Have you stopped the DHCP service on the server and/or rebooted the machine with the router acting as the DHCP server?
-
I am running 29.42's here... When the 40's become WHQL-Certified, I'll give them a go, but there seems to be too many issues currently.

Sounds good... I agree with your decision to disable DHCP on the router, as that could possibly cause some headaches with the transition. Personally, I would run the hub off of a standard switched port of the router, and into the uplink port on the hub, that way you keep your uplink on the router open, you may need it in the future.

You'll probably need to let the inital update finish before the manual update setting takes effect.

Are users able to login to other sites that use SSL? The login process to Hotmail routes initially to a passport site that uses SSL for authentication.

Have you created the XP networking floppy, and run that floppy on both of the 98 boxes?
-
Assuming that your server is running currently as a DHCP server, you'll either want to disable that, or disable DHCP in the router config. That aside, I am wondering what you have for an internet connection. Assuming that you have Cable/DSL/T1, you would attach that connection to the WAN port on the router, and then connect both the server and client machines into the router/switch. The uplink port, in the above situation, would be unused. Generally, FYI, the uplink port is 'shared' with the downstream port next to it, so if you had all of the downstream switched ports in use, you would be unable to use the uplink port. Note that not all uplink ports are shared, but my experience is that the majority of them are, at least until you get into a high-end router. You would, of course, be able to remove the hub from your network after both computers are connected to the router. Good luck, and if you have other questions, just post.

Check the IE settings and make sure that the 'Enable Proxy Server' isn't selected. Also, if your DSL line uses PPoE, you may need to reconfigure that.

The original list is almost 2 years old, not sure if DosFreak has updated it recently; that would explain some differences.
