Install Office 2000 (2K) without inputting a product key – How To make a CD that automatically fills in your product ID follow the steps below: Copy the contents of your Office 2000 CD to a folder on your Hard Drive In the root directory will be a SETUP.INI file, edit this file Find the [OPTIONS] section, add a line PIDKEY=(your product key no dashes) Now burn the contents onto a blank CD. No problems here... I wonder, how many of you have Google set as your homepage? I do, both at work and home. -

Why don't you copy the contents of the CD to a folder on your domain, one that only you and other admins can access, and install from there? You'll have to check, but I know you can install 2k without entering a cd key by creating an unattended ini file... That feature probably exists in Office 2k as well. -
Why don't you install either Lilo or Grub? Either of those would work easier than the MS Bootloader.

If you haven't installed a program to fix it, then you need it... For any OpenGL/Direct3D games, where you want the refresh rate above 60Hz.

Actually, I thought that the switch to MSN Explorer (Exploder... Heh heh) was going to happen after IE 7... I thought 7 was going to be the last version.

I don't remember exactly, but you have to modify the shortcut properties. I'll check when I get home.

I think this was the link for Windows XP services... Note that Windows 2000 Services listing is there, too... http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm -
What programs did you install/uninstall? Have you tried re/installing a newer version of IE?

CD-RW: Can browse folders, but not run any files

I have used a tool in the past that has been able to recover 'lost' data such as yours. This tool is called IsoBuster, and can be found here. -

Did you close the session? -
Try installing newer video drivers.

Have you tried using different ports, specifying which port to use on the shortcut's command line? I know HL/CS can be picky... Also, you both do have the same version, and different cd keys, right?

Which operating system for my system?
adamvjackson replied to DragonZeal's topic in Everything New Technology
In all honesty, either one will probably be just fine, it's a matter of preferance. As I mentioned to another user a while back, if you have to purchase either one, I would get XP simply because it will be supported longer. If you already have one of the operating systems, I would use that. -

From my experiences alone, the Audigy drivers have compatibility issues with XP... -

WinXP or Win2k pro:Which is better for a heavy gamer?

DosFreak, you're right on the money with that post... I agree 100%. I always like to have the user (when possible) reach their own decesions. I personally, am partial to 2k, but my choice is not everyones. -
Shooting from the hip, my guess would be July 2003. Just a guess, I have absolutely no basis for that...

A good friend of mine had an IBM Deskstar 40GB 7200 RPM (DeathStar, according to Alien... ) fail after only 3 months of normal use. I guess there was a whole run of bad drives circa 6-12 months ago.

For professional data recovery services, where you ship the drive to a facility, $700US is not that high... I've heard of it being well into the thousands, FYI. Does this company offer any guarantees?
-
Well, depending on the 'fuzzy math' used, that's probably accurate. You see, drive manufacturers are slightly decieving about storage capacity. To drive makers, 1GB=1,000,000,000 bytes whereas in actuality, 1GB=1,073,741,824 bytes. So, you're probably getting access to the complete drive, less the 8MB unpartitioned space req'd by 2k/xp.

OK, I have a system that I hope to be selling (locally, most likely) and I was hoping I could get some good estimates of what it's worth. The equipment is as follows: Asus CUBX board, Intel 440BX chipset Intel P3-650 100MHz FSB 1GB Crucial RAM PC133 Nvidia Geforce2 Ti SB Audigy Gamer 2 Sony 52x CDRom's Antec SX-830 Case 300W Antec Power Supply 5 Antec 80mm Case Fans Maxtor 60GB 7200 RPM drive Round floppy & ide cables Promise ATA 133 Controller Netgear FA311 Nic So hopefully you guys can give me a decent range of both what it's worth, and what you'd pay for it. This includes NO software, other than maybe a CDR with drivers.
