Removing hidden partition on Compaq Presario HD
adamvjackson replied to videobruce's topic in Hardware
Correct. -
Not sure exactly where that game saves it's settings, but I'd either delete (or move) the config file, and rebind the joystick settings... Best way to determine which file is the config is to view all file details in explorer, sort by date.

Sapiens74, what are you, or have you, upgraded to?

silly question, how do make my SIG in small text?
adamvjackson replied to tweaked's topic in Slack Space
[ size=10 ] YOUR TEXT HERE [ /size ] Remove the applicable spaces... FYI, size 10 is my sig, you can tweak sizes as you see fit. -
No problem... Also, if you have a spare IDE cable, you might want to try swapping that out.. It's easier to swap out a cable than a drive, and I have seen cables fail.

Argh. I've had bad luck with that version, and reverted back to 2.6.362 on my lan. If you want 2.6.362 and can't find it, either post here or email me and I can post the freeware version on my site.

Yes, lock it down...

WinXP explorer.exe pegs 99% of CPU.....
adamvjackson replied to its424's topic in Everything New Technology
Good thinking... I'd run a GOOD antivirus program that's recently been updated, and then Adaware.... Or perhaps I'd just format and reinstall.. Kazaa Lite is much better... [Edit] Also maybe run a port-scanner? [/Edit] -
Which version of ZA?

I should have a copy of NVmax, and I can upload it to my site later on when I get home, if you want....

First, ensure that your 2k cd isn't damaged or scratched, sounds like you may have some cd issues if there was problems copying files when it was initially installed. Second, just reboot the pc with the 2k cd in the drive, and the setup program will autorun. You will have the option of where you want to install it, and it will give you the option to remove and reformat the drive, should you choose so.

Check in the control panel, under the users option. The autologin option should be right in there.

As far as I know, Flash is installed off of C:\Program Files... Perhaps there's an exclusion list in SystemWorks 2003?
-
For gaming, I'd use the Audigy... Also, I would NOT use the install cd from Creative, but rather download the latest drivers from the web. My $0.02....

What, if any, Windows patches have been applied?

Removing hidden partition on Compaq Presario HD
adamvjackson replied to videobruce's topic in Hardware
If the partition is FAT(16) and the volume name is SYSTEM_SAV then yes, it's fine to delete. Be advised however, that the original QuickRestore CD will not work correctly. If you ever need to restore the os in the future, you'll need to order a 2 cd set of QuickRestore cds. -
Job security...

I found a link to the Nvidia ftp site, where the majority of the 'official' driver releases can be downloaded... When I get home I'll post it, if anyone's interested.

Also latest bios updates seem to help with via/sb live, too.
-
So the 23.12's are WHQL-Certified then?

Hello all, have some SB Live Sound Issues in Win 2K :(
adamvjackson replied to simcut's topic in Everything New Technology
Also, make sure that you have the latest bios update... The SB Live has some compatibility issues with some boards. -
Check the agp setting in the bios.

There was a guide on Tom's Hardware a while back compairing the detonator versions, if I remember correctly, the 23.12 was not an official release, but I could be wrong. You might want to check that guide out on Tom's Hardware, though.

23.11's or 28.32's should be good for your system. Grab all your Nvidia files here: http://www.guru3d.com/files/detonator/. Also, I would upgrade to DX 8.1b, too.
