Quote: Thanks clutch - good to know. Now if I could just get on a server to get the RH8 iso's :-) Here you go: http://www.linuxcompatible.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=68

Installed perfectly using the RH 7.3 files listed on the Nvidia site?
-
When I looked on Nvidia's site for Linux drivers, they only listed Mandrake 8.2, not 9.0, so perhaps that's why? Did the RPM format change with the kernel version change?

Illinois FS/FT: complete system for 60-80gb 7200RPM HDD

lol, I guess I totally read that wrong!! -
Generally, yes. Depending on how the authentication takes place, you may have to set up the router with a static IP, a hostname, etc. They're really quite easy to set up, for example, the incoming wired connection would plug into the WAN port of the router, and depending on the router's features, you would either have to add a hub/switch or if one is built into the router (most are) then you'd just connect the individual computers into the router. You could then, if you wanted, remove the second nic from the ICS XP computer. Here's a few links you can check out, that may provide a better, or more understandable explaination: http://www.practicallynetworked.com http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/index.php

Yeah, I had a genuine laugh, after the legnths Microsoft went to further restrict piracy with SP1, then they released that KB article. I guess it's intent was for companies of legitimate volume licencing who had their key 'leaked'.

A friend of mine had some problems with a usb mouse running into a ps2 converter, then a kvm.. Reminded me of when there used to be IRQ conflicts on COM1 with serial mice. [edit] That was on Mandrake 9.0 Final, by the way. The fix was to connect it directly, bypassing the KVM. [/edit]

The RPMs for the 1.31 PR?
-
Wow! Thanks... 185KB/Sec here.. that's about what my cable is capped at. Thanks again, Clutch.

Hopefully everyone will not get the impression that I posted that to aid in pirating XP/XPSP1... Not my intention at all.

For that system? I highly doubt it will work. Possibly with adding an IDE controller card (PCI) and using a BIOS overlay. Not recommended, IMHO, for your system. I've installed some 40GB drives in systems from that era, and best case, they see 32GB. I highly recommend AGAINST that upgrade, for that system. Hope that didn't come out mean.. -
It always amazes me how polite you are in your posts... I try to be nice, but... Ok.. here's my opinion / $.02: How about a hardware router? They can be had for under $100, generally. That would add NAT which should solve your problems. Sounds like there may be some data collisions on the port that the game uses.

Glad you got it working, Clutch... I personally have to install an updated video driver for my Geforce4 ti440. It seems the default nvidia driver included does not have opengl support. Guess I'll tackle that this weekend.

Playing games while in school - ports blocked

What operating system is your friend running? I believe he will essentially need to set up a proxy server on his machine, and pass all the ports to the proxy. -
Here you go... just save the following text as setwin95.cmd: @echo off REM REM This batch script will mark an image file so that it thinks it is running REM on Windows 95. REM if "%1" == "" goto usage echo Marking %1 executable so it thinks it is running on Windows 95 imagecfg -w 0xC0000004 %1 >nul goto done :usage echo Usage: SETWIN95 executableFileName :done

Do you have the front panel connections made correctly? Is the polarity reversed on the power switch?

I think all you have to do is copy the pk3 files in the same folder structure (/Quake III Arena/Baseq3) as on the cd, then download and install the latest Linux Quake 3 point release 1.31. At least that's how it was described to be, when I enquired about the same thing a few months ago elsewhere.
