Thanks for the help, Waffler

OK, never mind this thread then, just operator error...

A quick google returned that KQ8 was released in 1998, so compatibility could definately be an issue. Similarly, a quick look on the net reports that installation may fail if you try to install to an NTFS-formatted partition, somehow the installer checks for a FAT/FAT32-formatted partition. Perhaps some of our compatibility experts can add their thoughts? DosFreak? ConQueso?

No problem, sorry for the complete thread-hijack

Not sure, last PM I received was a few months ago, and I never noticed it until a few weeks ago when I decided to click on "Private Messages" in the User panel.

Discussion about the Spaceballs sequel

I'm not sure, it could be a few different things. It could be that the installer is attempting to load a "splash" screen, and failing to either read that file, or the installer could be partially incompatible with NT/2000/XP/2003 operating systems. It could be that a 3rd party bitmap/.BMP filter has been installed, and the installer may have certian hooks into the default Microsoft .BMP filter. What error message are you receiving after copying of those three files? Cannot read from disk?

I think it's worth a shot, either way. Also, do you happen to have a CD laser-lens cleaner? Typically they are normal CDs with small brushes on the bottom. You could try using that if you have one in the mean time. Another idea, if you have a spare IDE cable, you could try replacing the cable that the CD drive uses, if you're comfortable doing so.

Full clinical staff here, all the doctors are here, too. Holidays? What are those? Nah, really though, I have a pretty good schedule. -

Hey, I'm at work, no pictures of myself readily available! -
Sigh... Game publishers: US != North America Since both Canada and Mexico are in North America, why are they not considered "Americans"? Sorry for this off-topic rant, but really! It truely seems as though the US thinks US = America. What about South American countries? Are they not "Americans" as well? Not trying to flame anyone or anything here, just the typical attitude that the US is the center of the world.

Might and Magic? Megaman? Not sure, myself.

It sounds as though the CD drive cannot read the disc. Since the disc is free from scratches, one other variable is the drive itself. Do you have another CD drive you can try copying the files from? Perhaps a different computer?

You're right on both questions

What a way to cheer up a Monday morning, with Barf quotes! Princess Vespa: Yogurt, the wise. Dot Matrix: Yogurt, the all-powerful. Barf: Yogurt, the magnificent. Yogurt: Please, please, don't make a fuss. I'm just plain Yogurt.

I haven't made any modifications to the original files at all, in fact, the original date on it was 11/28/2003. And that link is now dead. Sorry, I must have deleted it last time I uploaded some photos. I'll repost that file tonight. -
I had 6 invitations last week, but they're all gone now. I'll post when I have some more.

Have you tried running the setup in compatibility mode? Is the media free from scratches? Can you try copying the entire contents of the CD to your hard drive, and installing from that folder?

No problem, that's what we're here for, information exchange... Anyway, hopefully the OP can post back on the specifics.
