What exactly did you try to do to remedy the dialing issue? Did you try changing the access number through setup, as per the Netzero directions here?

  6. First, lets be clear on what version of SuSE that you have, 9.0, 9.1, 9.2 or 9.3? Secondly, realize that if you have SuSE 9.0, this is a very old version and instructions for this particular version will be hard to come by. What version Belkin F5D7050 is this? It makes a difference, as there are 4 or more versions (according to the Belkin site) which have various chipsets that run the card. You can use the package ndiswrapper to run your native Windows drivers (possibly) if you have the drivers cd. To show an example, see this SuSE article for an example of the Ralink chipset version. You will probably have much better luck with a newer version of SuSE, such as version 10.1. 10.2 or 10.3.

Need Help Unistialling Linux and Reinstalling XP

The original post is several months old and he never posted if he fixed the system. Perhaps if you could explain in more detail your situation, folks could assist. The answers given will do the trick, if your whole hard drive was formatted to a linux partition(s). If you know what make hard drive that you have, you can also use the manufacturer's utility to zero write or repartition the drive, so you can start over. If you elected to have a dual boot system and now want to get rid of Linux and boot XP again, the solution may be different.

    Intel graphics driver (iegd)

Can you supply a link from where you downloaded the software? Most likely, if this rpm was compiled for Fedora 6, then it is a matter of installing the rpm. The documentation I found on an earlier version stated that it was for Xfree86 and well as X11. In terms of why rpm rather than a compiler package, you have to ask Intel, if that is who designed the package. Probably has to do with expected dependencies for a tar package that needs to be compiled, rather than an rpm package that may contain all the needed components.

    fedora installer not recognizing SATA

Looks like ICH9 support for sata, from what I have read, was not available until the 2.6.21 kernel. This would explain why Fedora 8 works.

    fedora installer not recognizing SATA

Take a look at this article. It describes a different model, but what happens when you pass; linux pci=nomsi as he did at the installer splash screen? What graphics card is in this system?

You did not specify what exact Optiplex model that you have, but have you considered Fedora 8, which would likely support your system hardware?

Help plsss! New Build PC no boot screen

Try this; Do a power supply reset by unplugging the power cord, then push the power button in and hold for 10 seconds. Re-plug the power cord, and try to power on the computer. Lets see if the Asus site allows links to their troubleshooting section. Trobleshooting Matrix There is an error on their link to the section on led lit-->no display-->fan spinning-->no abnormal beep sound..... The link for your situation is the row above, as if you had abnormal beep sounds. But, of course, you have no system speaker attached, so read both. If this fails; Do you have a PS/2 keyboard to try? ...and you are sure that the processor is supported? Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (CZ),2MB,rev.F3,125W,SocketAM2 is supported for the motherboard. Note the CZ version of the chip. Is this what you have? The problem here is that in the absence of beep codes (which may be helpful) we are taking shots in the dark.
  16. Take a look at this Ubuntu thread Read it carefully, especially Tuxcantflys posts. You have Kubuntu, so take note of the gdm vs. kdm starts of the gui. The last post suggestions should work getting into gedit and changing the nvidia entry to nv or vesa. Quote: anyhow, use sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start as for the fallback drivers, do this: sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf find the line that says "nvidia" under the section "device" change it to "nv" then do sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start Hopefully this will get it going.

Help plsss! New Build PC no boot screen

OK, having a system speaker on the case would help if there were any bios beep codes on boot. Make sure that the monitor is powered on before hitting the system power switch. Did you try the suggested memory placement? Make sure that the memory is seated properly. The video card has a 6-pin PCI Express power connector to the power supply connected? If so, I would try re-seating the video card, making sure that you use the blue primary PCI-E x16 slot. and..you are sure that there are no possible shorts between the motherboard and case? Finally, make sure that the CMOS jumper is in the normal position and not in the reset position. I have seen the factory set it to reset by mistake.
  18. I have not played with Kubuntu in a while, but I will give it a shot. Let us be clear. You installed the drivers from the NVIDIA web page and not the Ubuntu drivers from the repository? Did you install the correct drivers for your video card model? Do you have a live CD of any Linux distro available, or another flavor of Linux installed on the system?

Help plsss! New Build PC no boot screen

Any beep codes on boot try? Make sure that the video card is properly seated. Try memory in slots A1 and B1 and that they are seated properly. You did not mention what exact memory that you are using. What exact make and model power supply are you using? And, you have the main power connector attached as well as the 4 pin CPU fan connector also attached? The onboard LED is green on boot?

    Video Card Help!

No problem Sampson, since I do not do any gaming, my intent was to get this thread started. Reedyy, just be aware, that reviews in these sites where buyers review the products have to be taken as just informational. Folks who review the product tend to be real technical folks or folks who have had problems. So take the reviews as just one piece of information in making your decision. Newegg has some good deals, as well. Hope the link works here for some more possibilities and reviews from users. The idea is to make an informed decision based on your needs.

    Video Card Help!

OK, now we know that you have; Slots One AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) 8X slot. Three PCI 2.2 32-bit PCI bus slots (support 3.3V/5V PCI bus interface). Does your system meet the minimun specifications for the card? 256MB of system memory (1GB+ recommended for Windows Vista). Installation software requires CD-ROM drive. DVD playback requires DVD drive. 350 watt or greater power supply. The power supply requirement is especially important, as you need to connect the card directly to your power supply (the cable is included). Also, the is has dual DVI-I ports for two monitors, but includes an adapter for standard connection to a standard VGA connector for your monitor, if this is what you have. You can also find it cheaper elsewhere, say Tiger Direct. Take a look at the card and it's specs. at the link. Watch your shipping charges wherever you buy a card. And not to forget, the card is only as good as your monitor and it's capabilities. So this is a consideration, as well. Now, lets see if the true gamers can comment on this thread, as this is out of my area of expertise.

    Video Card Help!

How about answering the questions that I asked about the system? This will help pin down some answers. Did you try the Belarc Software that I linked to in order to see what it says about your motherboard?

    USB Not reconized/found

Ultimate_Gio92, is this a new drive, or have you been using it for a while? jgerber86, when you connect the DVD external drive and the SimpleTech drive, do you disconnect the drive by clicking the "safely remove hardware" in the system tray before shutting down the drive(s)? Don't flame me on this, I see it all the time. Refer the page 6 in the users guide. Do either of you have access to another computer system that you can plug the drive into to see if it works on another system?

    Video Card Help!

Yes, the motherboard make and model is important, as it will determine several factors in choosing a video card. Some motherboards have limitations on what cards can be used and often the manufacturer's web site will have certification testings of various cards on their systems. This will also help you choose what card will work and that have been tested and certified to work, of course by the manufacturer. Is this a self built system, or did you buy it froma major retailer, such as Dell, Gateway...? Sometimes the boards that are built for these systems have limitations, as well. The make and model in this case is helpful. Otherwise, look on the motherboard between the AGP/PCI slots for a motherboard model and revision. Also. Belarc Advisor can help determine what exact model that you have. I link to the software is located here. Run the program and look in the upper right of the readout web page that it displays. I also notice that your link is for a model with PCI-E interface. Do you have such an interface, which is doubtful, as you say that you currently have an AGP card in the system. Usually, motherboards have one or the other. Note: This is different from the older PCI standard. Have you installed the latest drivers for the card that you already have? The newer driver may have improved features that may make the card more usable. But, you want to do some gaming. I can't suggest a card, since I do not do gaming, but you will get a lot of suggestions from folks here. Finally, take a look a Directron's article here that will give you a start on some of the questions that you asked. BTW, I will delete your other post, as you should follow one thread rather than two, where answers and following your questions will be easier and less confusing.
