It may be a stupid question , but... do you have a DVD-drive? 'Cause ASUS CD-S500/A is a CD-ROM drive and CRW-5224/A is a CD-recorder. As far as I know. ;; EDITED ;; Get Nero InfoTool and check what media your drives support. http://www.nero.com http://www.cdspeed2000.com

Comments on CoPe being banned: Finally... I thought it'll never happen.

How about gaim? And it should be on one of the Mandrake's CDs, if not already installed..

There're alot of different disros around, so next time, please, refer to the distro name and not to linux; besides, linux is just a kernel. Check out these links: http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=75678 http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=75008

It's the best I can suggest, since boot.ini looks fine.. BTW, it sould be in ANSI.

I assume you have some basic programming skills.. http://www.php.net/manual/en/ http://www.php.net/download-docs.php Quote: Also, How can I preview a php file? I work in XP Well.. with any text editor.

I think he's missing a line under operating systems.. it sould be something like this: Code: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect check out this site: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q289022 ;; EDITED;; Just figured out you have win2000.. well.. it sould be the same anyway, except for the label..

Quote: Beware that the flash/java performance compared to windows will be very slow. 8) hmmm... I haven't seen any significant difference.. Well.. MSN Zone could be a problem.. Anyways, as slimmer has already suggested, dual-booting would be a solution.

Taking offence?? Oh no.. not at all

Quote: tht's how u do it in linux (...) First of all, this IS a linux forum. Secondly, it still would work.. either with Cygwin or UnxUtils (Windows ports of common GNU utilities)

Quote: I have Exceed 7 and a free xserver called Cygwin. Don't you mean XFree86?? 'Cause Cygwin is not an xserver.

At the moment, sawfish, but may switch to evilwm in a couple of days.

Code: export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=$PKG_CONFIG_PATH:path_to_the_directory_containing_glib-2.0.pc

I don't think 7-zip supports multi-volume.. at least yet. But you can split file into fixed-size parts and then compress them using your favourite archiver. Take a look at UnxUtils and split's man pages.

www.debian.org But I think you'll need something less advanced... Check out the distrowatch.com.

It depends on your connection.. Take a look at these links, if you have an ADSL connection: http://www.linuxhelp.net/guides/pppoe/ http://www.roaringpenguin.com/products/rp-pppoe/index.php

Code: md5sum filename.iso And compare to md5sum found on the webpage. Take a look at man pages.. Code: man md5sum

Well.. I'd say Mandrake is one of the easiest distros around.. BTW, what kind of internet connection do you have? Quote: are linux typed documents compatible to be viewed and/or edited and printed in windows?? OpenOffice.org can export MS Office documents, plus it can create PDF's.. If you were talking about plain-text files, then there're some useful utilities, eg. unix2dos, that you could use to convert UNIX file format to DOS.

will only download two at a time
nebulus replied to Radioactive Frog's topic in Everything New Technology
1) I think IE has some restrictions on how many downloads you can have at a time. But I don't really remember if it was max two downloads.. 2) It could also be a server issue.. Sometimes, servers (most likely ftp servers) limit a number of connections an user can make. -
http://www.fastmail.fm 10Mb storage + it supports IMAP, so you can plug it into your favorite mail client

Is there a GPL or otherwise free zipping/unzipping program?
nebulus replied to duhmez's topic in Software
Try this one (LGPL): http://www.7-zip.org http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=14481&release_id=189178 -
Quote: You said that the email works... Do you have any other software (preferably Browsers) that connects to the internet that you can test? You could finger someone, for example Justin Frankel
