i must say that yes windows 2000 was a pain in the ass that's why i updated to xp because it runs better and has better security for users accounts ive had no probs with XP and lettin limited access to users ( like family hehe lol ). Neo

Yeah i get what ya mean thing is though i have never had my pc without a firewall at first i had xp i used the internal one that gave me hell so i you know what that off and installed zonealarm pro it blocks people trying to netbios me etc which i like but the thing is about routers they cost a fortune so yeah that's out of the question for now untill i can afford it then yeah i will eventually get one. This is what they look like on a windows 98 system. here are a few sites ya can visit for drivers http://www.scanner-drivers.com/companies/301.htm click on the top link { 4800 driver DEXXA32.EXE [more] Windows XP Aug 25, 2002 } also if this doesn't work check out http://www.dexxaweb.com/scannerdownload.php they say they have had reports of the scanner not working in XP. Have you visited the manufacturer and asking them if they support the windows XP operating system or if you like i can do a little run around and have a look for you. Neo

You can actually allow in Windows XP only for Administrators to install programs uninstall programs etc you can do this by only allowing limited which basically gives access to programs that are installed allready and unless there a computer admin they can't install or unintall programs. Goto Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Click On A Users Username ( Or Nick ) -> Click On Change the Account Type -> Then Up The Top Click On Limited. This will only allow certain privlages to programs files etc. perfect for pc's that are used all the time and only want admin to change system settings etc. I run XP Pro and it's the best OS ive used. I just havent liked it really after i updated to the second latest version of pro i like pro better thing is thought it's a pain i might go back to free version but dun know yet till i get really pissed off lol. Till then ohwell will have to try fixing it. Neo

ive had that same problem with a few other operating systems and found that after letting it sit for a while and not doing things to strangly for a while the computer seemed to be fine. 8) -
I would try that but i don't trust the free version as i had alot of problems with it aswell if i could find a way of fixing the internal one for xp pro i would use it but till then no way im turning off ma firewall if ya get my drift lol. Neo

The problem is that my machine isn't allowing the other pc to accept files from mirc icq etc users ive tried configuring the firewall which i have allowed the other pc to use all ports but it still says it aint allowing it for some unknown reason.

I am running Windows XP Pro with zonealarm pro for my firewall and im currently newtworked with another pc in the home and am having problems with my machine ( the firewall ) were it wont allow my other pc to accept files etc what can i do to fix this problem or can i remove zonealarm pro and put the internal firewall back on and configure it to allow both pc's to use the same connection and accept connections all at one time. As this is really pi$$ing me off ;( Neo
