    When fathers seek "adventure"...

From your list, I'd choose Island and/or Journey, and to that I'd add any adventure game from Dreamcatcher Games. I also have WinXP, and had no problems at all with these games.

    Zork Nemesis

Hello all, I just looked through every page here, and saw nothing on it. The game installs fine, but I get 'Insert CD I' error when I try to play, and CD I is in the drive! Switching CD's does nothing, nor does taking out CD I and reinserting it. Just a frozen screen with a busy cursor and error message. I've tried changing CD-ROM letters, turning off and on Auto Play, and banging on it with a hammer. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 10/9/2002, 12:20:28 Machine name: ARTHUR Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 1 (2600.xpsp1.020828-1920) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Compaq System Model: Presario 2701US 470020-367 BIOS: PTLTD - 6040000 Processor: IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® III Mobile CPU 1000MHz Memory: 510MB RAM Page File: 150MB used, 1096MB available Primary File System: n/a DirectX Version: DirectX 8.1 (4.08.01.0810) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.01.2600.1106 32bit Unicode ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------ DirectX Files Tab: No problems found. Shogun Total War in XP

I'd start with how much RAM do you have total, and how much is available when you run the game? I have 256 MB RAM on my laptop, and as I was nearing Shogun status, with a few thousand warriors on each side, even I had a slowdown in battle play.

    Concerning Thief/Thief 2

Both work very well on my WinXP laptop. Two of my most fave games, and they have not left my computer since first installation.
