    computer just beeps......

Hmm, it could be the processor. It's just one thing to think about, but a system that will not spinup has a major problem.
  3. You can put .pae in that list.

    Prices of LCD's - dropping?

A lot of the reason for the higher cost of LCD is due to TFT prices in Taiwan. There's a shortage of TFT's.

Can anyone recommend a motherboard for me?

I'm sort of likeing this ASUS A7V8X-X. Nice setup, but I think that a mainboard with Serial ATA ports on it. The A7V600 is not expensive($78 at newegg.com) and has onboard SATA. I'm thinking of replacing this mainboard with it.

    Grpahics Problem

Well Sapiens point is right, but you might want to load that regfile for AMD AGP. It does help out a lot. You also might want ot consider getting at least Radeon 9000 or even a good GF 4 Ti 4200(I have a ASUS 8420 Video card with 128MB of ram).

So it's true that British Telecom has a lot of problems with Dial-up and DSL. Sounds like it really bad over there but nothing unlike it is over here.

a good reason not to smoke on busses

Quote: not to mention that once started, the all-natural petro-chemical furnishings are extremely fire retardant and smell really yummy. So it wasn't Carpeted?

a good reason not to smoke on busses

Now you wonder why busses have no smoking signs in the restroom, with the chemicals in the restroom could blow up the bus with the diesel fuel. I've been going up to Austin on a charter bus to Dell(Parmer North 2) from here in San Antonio.

M$'s plan to tie the O/S with the BIOS

This is getting a bit old. Personally all of this is the result of Microsoft getting pushed around. All of this wouldn't even be thought of if people didn't mandate that they must change things to allow competion. Really, we should allow captialism to work and not force competion.

    Better Cooling

Really you might want to consider a Silver Mountian 2 with a ThermalTake Smart Fan 2 as the fan. Do use either AS3 or Nanotherm.

    Poll! Worlds worst custom machine???

Well this ATX Mid-Tower that I had would diffinally be one of the worst. Not only was it heavy, it was very cramped with either a EPOX 8KHA+ or Asus A7V8X in it. I'm a lot happier that Lian-Li PC-60 than that other case.

[XP or 2K3]: O&O defrag or..

A full copy of Diskeeper is great. It much faster than using Speedisk to defrag.

    GOT GAS?

I really don't understand how a trip of 2 miles can take 45 min(unless it's a rural road). A 2 mile trip from my house to Southeast Baptist Hospital is only 5 minutes by car and a 3 mile trip to the Wal-Mart Supercenter I work at is between 7-10(only because of the bad planning). A 17 mile drive to 1604 and I-35 only takes 20-25 and going across San Antonio on I-10/Highway 90 is about the same amount of time(much longer distance). San Antonio is one of the most spead out cities in the United States. Quote: Quote: Well, the government here have just announced that school run traffic is the cause of a lot of rush-hour jams (this research brought to you by "Pointless Research That You Already Knew, Inc") THey're bandying about a figure of 20% of rush hour traffic is school run, but I'd question whether it really was that low (I know it certainly isn't in the part of London where I live - but then my 6-mile journey to work takes me past at least 3 schools) Tony and his pals want to invest money to try to stop parents jumping in their cars - but they didn't actually explain exactly how they were going to do that! I just sit behind my steering wheel and curse the lot of them It often takes me 45 minutes to go less then two miles from my university to my house. Even more during rain/snow.

    GOT GAS?

Hmm, it's about $1.38 for 87 octane on Rigsby Ave.(3 miles from here). Housing can be cheap or expensive depending on where you live. $350 can get you a cheap apt on the southside, $600+ on the north side and house go from $50k+ to $10mil in the Dominion. Not bad for a city of over a millon residents. Quote: It runs anywhere from like $1.40-1.80 for the regular cheap stuff. If I had a deathwish, I'd also point out that it's also pretty cheap to live around here too...apts can be had for under $500/mo..., and houses can start fairly cheap too.

    GOT GAS?

Why can't we just get multi-fuel engines so that anything that's combustable can be used. It would be great.
  18. Copernicus

    GOT GAS?

Well it's not that expensive here in San Antonio. Just 3 miles away from here it's a $1.41 a gallon for regular. It's been going down steadly sense Labor Day. Really we should be in favor of coal gasification. The good thing is that filling up the gas tank only cost about $13 or so dollars.

I guess with all the people here with new cars(myself included), may be it's a good idea post pics of your cars or if you don't have pic, give a discription.

    Cars

Well I was looking at an Accord but it ended up being more expensive than either a Toyota or Nissan. Oh well, I like my Matrix. Quote: I am still driving around in my dad's car, a Renault 19 (phase I, '92). It's a small little car, pics here and here (note: i couldn't be bothered getting pics of my car, so I got these off Renault19World). It's a small 4d car, call it saloon or family car, a 1.4lt engine with 80hp and a top speed of 170Km/h (roughly 106mp/h).... Still looking into getting a Honda Civic (here), after all I am only 26. This car is coming hopefully in Christmas, when I hope to have enough dough to get it (that is if I DON'T upgrade my machine and waste a month's salary....again.....) is there a smiley for vroom, vroooooooom???

    CHeck out my New Ride!

It's good to shop around on vechicle. Well here in San Antonio, we have 4 Toyota Dealerships and they've all been doing a brisker bussiness due to Toyota building a Manufacturing Plant for Tundra Trucks on the Souththern portion of Bexar county. I like dealing with Universal Toyota. I think I get a picture of it after it gets a bath. It's sort of dirty. Quote: I have a toyota now, and I love it, Great service , but they didn't have anything comparible in this class, It was between the Rav4 and the 4Runner, and I didn't like either, plus the 4runner was 3k more then the Sport Trac. Prol trade my other car in for a Camry though, for the wife. Great cars. Anyways. Was messing around looking for stuff and found I have those lumbar support air things, and heated leather seats too. Hawaii already hot though lol. Well if you live in Hawaii McKenna Ford is a great place to buy a car. They were in the office till 11pm getting my Sport Trac ready. I paid a little more than I should have for it, but its the exact one I wanted.

Nice, I just need to get a picture of my 2004 Toyota Matrix. I think I'll need to do it before the Tags come in on the 18th of this month. My car payments are $385.61 for 60 months. Quote: I just bought this last night Was excited to share the news http://home.hawaii.rr.com/sapiens74/SportTrac.htm Been wanting one for a long time now Got the adrenaline package with Pioneer Premium Sound, Heated Seats, and the back cover for the bed. What you guys think?

Can I Connect 2 Routers to One DSL Modem?

Quote: My daughter is off to university and in a house with 5 other girls. I purchased a 4 port wireless router for their use. My daughter has the wireless card but one of the other girls has a router which she wants to use on the upper floors of the house. The wireless router is obviously one port short because no one else wants to purchase a wireless connection. Can I connect one router to another without issues? If not what is the best solution? Thanks in advance! If your going to have them on a wireless connection, you could get another AP(Access Point) and have the one system that's not hooked up on 4 port wireless router. I'm fairly sure you could place another 4 port router unless the one other system wants to stay wired, then get a 4 port switch. Follow the others advice. If tou do get a Linksys 4 port router you might have to upgrade the firmware.
