well my stop errors have.. stopped but now I can't stay connected to my dialup. I've tried two different ISPs. Sometimes I connection lasts all day and then starts dropping every few minutes. After it drops and I try to redial I have all kinds of problems: No dial tone, server not responding. Only thing that happened receantly is I had to remove the qhost trojan. I've run three different virus scans and nothing. When I connect my other comps running 98 they're fine.

getting this blue screen seemingly at random. *** STOP: 0x0000000A (0xFF818000,0x00000002,0x00000000,0x8052779c) usualy after i first boot and launch my dialup or explorer or eudora. I think the third block means it's a writing error but I don't understand the others. asus a7v8x, athlon 2200+, winxp home.

Anyone know what virtual NIC service running as PackethSvc.exe does. I did a search and found nothing. Also, no info is given is the Administration, Services. I'm trying to get rid of anything I don't need.

Well i guess I'll just throw a little money at the problem and see what happens.

I like AGV from www.Grisoft.com. It's free.

oops, yes. that's what I meant by "the latest one". I don't know about the 4in1. is that a seperate update?
-
yes I checked the ide channel dma settings in device manager. The fact that the bios isn't detecting dma mode seem to me like the problem. Does asus update update my 4in1 drivers? I have the newest one. My chipset is: northbridge VIA KT400 and southbridge VIA VT8235. PIO eh? heh, thanks

Worked fine under 98, can't get it out of P10 mode in XP. I have it hooked up as device 0 on the secondary IDE cable with a Zip drive. i tried unhooking the zip and it didn't help. Transferring from it is very slow and sometimes I get I get error reading drive. Shouldn't it be DMA? I checked the bios setup and it is auto detecting P10 mode 4. I can't find any xp drivers for it. Just set up an XP machine and am trying to run NBA live 2001 an NFL fever 2000. What happens is I launch the game and it sits there for at least a minute and then says "error reading from CD". After clicking continue the game plays fine, reading from CD and all. Actually, now this is just the case for NBA live cause after reinstalling NFL it crashes on load (spike.exe). Maybe removing all its registry entrees will fix that. I installed Triple Play 99 and it plays with no problems. God I'm sick of trouble shooting. Hope it's not really obvious. thks.
