Please, I need help with Geforce2

ChristianB : i live in Argentina, do i need to say more ? Unfortunately, new processors are really expensive since the "peso" got devaluated a year ago. I can´t afford to buy a new processor and a new mobo

No, i didn´t try to play any games in Red Hat 8. So, is it trying to use more power just when it starts using Nvidia drivers ? ;(

Quote: The hardest thing is going to find a board now that still supports your processor. I assume it is a slot 1. Also, your problem was the same one I had with my old intel bx board with agp 1.0. Agp 1.0 support 1x and 2x, but like stated above does not give enough power to the card. Yep, i know it´s not going to be easy, the processor is slot 1. But there are mobos with slot1 and agp 4x, i´ll buy one of those...

Well, thanks for all the replies I think the mobo is 2x/1x , and the card should work with it. I was already thinking about buying the new mobo, but i don´t want one with onboard video because i already have the geforce2 (it´s in a box now ). So, you all recommend Intel ?

Thanks for your help. I tried EVERYTHING. Disconected everything but it still doesn´t work. I have a Pentium III 550 mhz, with a 256 and a 64 MB Dimm (that´s 320 MB of RAM). CD drive, DVD drive, a SP16 ISA and a Ethernet network. Hope anyone can help me. thanks

clutch : I´m not overclocking. i update my mobo Bios to the latest version, and when i installed it on RH i was just using the drivers that RH installed when it detected my geforce2. In windows i tried with the drivers that came with the geforce and then i tried installing the newest drivers, and i also tried with older versions...but it´s always the same

Hi all I bought a Geforce2 a couple of months ago, but i could never make it work. I have a Soyo 6ba+ (i know it´s too old, but i can buy another one now ) and i tried installing all kind of drivers but it still hangs up on the Welcome to Windows 2000 screen. I also tried installing Win98 and WinXP but it´s just the same The really strange thing is that it worked great on Red Hat Linux 8 !! Please help, i´m really desperate Thanks
