DS3Circuit replied to csl1010's topic in Everything New Technology
http://support.microsoft.com/default.asp...;NoWebContent=1 http://www.experts-exchange.com/jsp/qShow.jsp?ta=osgen&qid=20117275 That should do do it for you Just check you permissions, and as a minimum have SYSTEM to full control on the drive that makes the pagefile. -
What kind of files are these? If they are DBs, are the files open or closed when copying. Do you experience the same lag when copying the files locally to another partition or when backed up to a tape drive?

Welcome to the world of "bleeding" edge technology .... I will give my thoughts on 2003 once I get the RTM going. G'luck to all those who are migrating, though from what I have seen ADMT looks GREAT !!

Internal Web Server = company1.company.com Access internal website on that site as = www.company.com And you would like the internal users access the internal webserver? Is your internal DNS separate from your external DNS? If I am understanding you correctly, then this is all you need. Create an alias record of www that points to the host record company1.company.com. If you wanna create a separate host record, that fine as well.

Make Web Browsing with Internet Explorer More Secure: Use Web Content Zones http://www.pericson.com/writings/ie_zones.shtml Also, if this is on a grand scale, there are certain internet appliances that filter active x, j script, and such on a layer 7 implementation.

Hardware RAID is "functional" but not generally supported. Software RAID is SKETCHY at best. Since it is a FAT32 drive have you tried running a scandisk and/or chkdsk and/or Norton Disk Doctor ? 8)

I dont believe 2000 professional will support that style of login at all. I believe the msgina.dll would need to be entirely written as well as other portions of that OS's login process. If I am wrong, feel free to correct me.

http://h20022.www2.hp.com/busprod/overvi...sidebarLayId=63 I would get the 1300N since it is network ready. If you choose to go lower in price, you may have to purchase a jet direct box which translates ethernet to parallel port.

Can you ping 127.0.0.1?

Microsoft Terminal Services vulnerable to MITM-attacks
DS3Circuit replied to DS3Circuit's topic in Security
Quote: Ds3Circuit, are you part of this Cendio Systems? If so, good job... it is good things like this are pointed out to MS if you ask me by folks like yourselves! Unfortunately I cannot take the credit. My employer is educational, in every sense of the word. I am impressed with this discovery though, since I know quite a few that use Terminal Services without a VPN. I was sharing something that was spotted in a newsgroup. Even though ICA and RDP are 2 different protocols for moving terminal service "data", I am sure they share the same principles and who knows, maybe Citrix ICA may have a similar flaw. -
Far easier to update a single DLL Courtesy of one of the admins of Winbeta.org http://vortex.winbeta.org

Why not disable the use of all ADMIN$ shares and go about creating your own? http://is-it-true.org/nt/registry/rtips2.shtml I have yet to see a true need for this, cause only members of the Administrator group have access to those shares.

Depends on what exactly your serving is doing? You wouldnt be running a "regular" edition of NAV on an exchange server. I go with TrendMicro, Sybari, and Command. My $0.02

Well I can only think of a couple of things barring I dont know what version of windows nor its service pack levels 1. Have you installed the High Security policy? .... this IIRC sets several services to disabled. Including Routing and Remote Access. 2. Are the latest drivers for the hardware installed? 3. Call PSS @ http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;en-us;Prodoffer02a#faq1399

What can I say Avalanche .... great minds think alike

Quote: and I think you can even extend that to IE settings as well... without investing in 3rd party stuff & using native features of this NOS family You are correct APK, I was just looking out for the guy in the sense of "locking down" his machines further. If you truly wish to make your own custom IE, look at the IEAK http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ieak/downloads/ieak6/ieak6sp1.asp

Sounds like 1. There are policies preventing your access to the Internet Explorer Applet found in the Control Panel. 2. You are using a custom built IE from the IEAK. 3. Someone you know has a good sense of humor. So can you access the IE applet from the control panel? What version of IE and what OS? This link will provide you with the registry entries needed to lock and unlock certain portions of IE, provided the error is within IE calling that control panel applet. http://is-it-true.org/nt/atips/atips290.shtml G'luck
