XP Starts installing Office 2000 out of NOWHERE whenever I use the find feature
DS3Circuit replied to latino85's topic in Security
If your office 2000 installation is hosed .... you can always rip it out using this (use this as a last resort, though it has never failed me) http://www.microsoft.com/resources/docum...n-us/msicuu.asp How to use an Office 2000 Setup log file to troubleshoot Office Setup problems http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;237957 See the above to see what is actually being replaced/added by the MSI installation. G'luck -

LOL Good to see you to APK. My it has been sometime since I ventured into these forums. Phillip has done some tremendous work on the backend I see. Where have I been .... designing and implementing platform migrations (Office 2003, Exchange 2003, Mac OS X 10.3, blah blah blah boring stuff )On the better notes, I graduate college soon *Yes I am late bloomer lol* And I am looking for a more opportunistic place of employment. ?? Almost 6000 posts ?? Man, I was wondering why there were less phone calls coming into the help desk. Looks like everyone came here to ask you questions heheh You doing good? Still into the Borland C stuff or has the darkside of vb.net taken you in :-P jk. ----------------------- Dont wanna be the thread hi-jacker here. On another side note, if you dont want to add static routes to the ISA box, you could always multihome the vpn server into both subnets, rather dirty though. If it is a routing issue, your could always do a ROUTE PRINT from the CMD of each interface and post them here so we can further help. Doublechecking things: 192.160.x.x for an internal routable ip solution or was that a typo for 168. Why not change the entire LAN addressing scheme to 192.168.5.X? How many personal nodes could there be ?
-
From what I can gather from your environment, I would guess that your ISA server cannot route between your VPN server and the other servers on your home network (??) If such is the case, adding a static route may help. http://www.pacificnet.net/~bbruce/route_route_exe.htm http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=321516&product=isas If I wasnt clear on something, ping us back

Hello I need some advice, I have some small home LAN network(Win2000pro)
DS3Circuit replied to loopdemack's topic in Networking
Good to see that APK is a high quality producing member of these forums In regards to performance increases Do the NICs share IRQs? Have you tried pinning the link speeds and duplexing? I do agree with APK and his TCPIP stack tuning. The 3c905 series came in three flavors IIRC. If they are revision A, then they are only 10 meg cards. Revisions B n C encorporated WOL as well as a Bel chipset. And just to ramble on a little more funny how you commented on how flow control improves your DVD viewing. When in actuality, more packets are being sent to "pause and start" your DVD stream. Gotta love not dropping all them packets. -
Figured I would add my $0.02 into the fray. So we are all on the same page, realize that Half Duplex is like a walkie talkie and Full Duplex is more like a phone line. When going from distribution network stacks to the desktop, my organizations go with the principal of using auto detect, as if collisions occur, a user's environment is generally minimally affected. When interconnecting devices between core vlans, legacy equipment, heterogeneous equipment, and servers, we pin the nic speed and duplex as well as on the port side. We have found better throughput on backups, trunking, and jumbo frames implementation when doing so. If I missed anything, Im sure someone will chime in.

Defining Password complexity - Win2k AD Domain

Welcome back Quote: I am... but, only just recently again today after easily 6 months of not having the time to do so (just like you, busy as a bee!). Has it been that long .... man time flew Quote: I've been travelling on the job again thru the USA here, having just finished up a job in Mobile Alabama for a shipping/logistics firm that was fun to create & has me a new product I can distribute to other firms like them (yes, I copyrighted it) so they do not have to invest in NT/2000/XP servers OR Exchange servers either since this program offers a subset of Exchange functionality @ a SMALL FRACTION of the price (secure contacts)! (In the past, I had worked for 1 Fortune 500 Logistics firm as a Programmer/Analyst & that landed me this job creating a dispatching system based largely off of Outlook 2000/XP/2003 contacts lists that created a SECURE way to show them to dispatchers after importing their entire 5000 member long list from Outlook into Access first.) The program basically allows contact list display & search features (much better ones than Outlook has in fact, all fields @ once if needed for example, in the database) without their being able to copy or steal them from this company (apparently, this is a problem that many mgt. figures & sales folks etc. are concerned with. I can appreciate & understand that)). It combines Access DB encryption & password security features w/ XP Workstation NTFS filesystem & group/user level security along with clipboard clearing (periodically every 3 seconds, not enough time to print screen & copy to file etc.) & printer share drop during program uptime (clipboard clears & print share drops only occur during program operation) to make it a secure contacts mgt. system that also emails VCard import/export as needed to colleagues. Mgt. can do ANYTHING (including add/delete/update data, mail VCards, import/export new data, print, etc.), but 10 dispatchers only can use it to view contact database information to aid them in their daily tasks. It worked out well, better than I expected. Nearly PURE VB coded too inside Access (except for the report engines, those were visually designed). Wow .... in our organization we have implemented an exchange solution for contact sharing ... replicating public folders basically. Ahhh good ol VB, I remember creating a frontend to tie into a SQL2K system to pull records (nothing as fancy as yours obviously). I have the coding skills of a chimp Quote: Nice part is, that car I bought last summer is now done... nice oil cooler (active & passive heatsink type on oil filter too), transmission cooler, powersteering cooler, dual exhaust, underdriven crank pulley, cold air intake, & lastly a supercharger are now on my car... 300 horsepower out of a V6, not too shabby! She is FAST, but more importantly extremely cool running & streetable. So much so, that the car has taken me all over the US from the Gulf of Mexico in Alabama, to Florida, thru Georgia, right up the coast to NY again over the last 8,000 miles without a hitch in this setup & the mileage is still here along with massive power too! So, I ended up scoring a non-contract job this round with a real giant of a company (going full time again @ last) & am starting that up this Monday in the Big Apple (New York City, the one that never sleeps... it's true!) & that is allowing me to score a new system too! Im looking into getting a new speed demon myself .... HA who am I kidding. More like the economical and fun to drive Dodge Durango. Some of us have moving to do Congrats about the job in NYC!! I was always interested into moving back home, though I think that notion will soon be gone. Theres a great restaurant called The Master Grill (nothern blvd in Queens) if you are ever in the mood for endless steak/shrimp/chicken. Quote: SPECS: Abit IC7 Max3 motherboard 512mb PC4200 (?) DDR RAM Western Digital Raptor 40gb 10,000rpm 8mb buffer SATA GeForce FX 5950 (That ought to pair up NICELY with my RocketDrive acting as my paging/swap + temp ops & webpage caching area... all on Windows 2003 Server (which I like by the by, along with Office 2003 very much so far)) Delightfull .... I have been saving for a G5 .... More of my duties as of late have been integrating macs into AD 8) So much for getting all the non-Apple certs Take care apk, watch out for the nyc morning commute -
Is there a remote desktop server for Win2K Pro?
DS3Circuit replied to insaNity's topic in Networking
Unfortunately Win2k Pro has no native RDP support. I would stick with TightVNC if you are looking for more "snippyness" over slow connections. Other alternatives include PCanywhere and Radmin. -

will only download two at a time
DS3Circuit replied to Radioactive Frog's topic in Everything New Technology
Nah its part of the HTTP1.1 protocol. A way around it, includes the following To configure IE to allow up to 10 simultaneous downloads (it only allows 2 at a time) do the following: Open Registry Editor. In Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value: "MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=Dword:0000000a "MaxConnectionsPerServer"=Dword:0000000a You can change 0000000a to any other value as long as it's hexadecimal. Close the registry editor -

Not a prob. I myself have been busy. Is APK still roaming these halls? -
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treevie...ry/DepGuide.asp Quote: What would be the best method for me to backup the Exchange 2k database Swing server it. In other words, build a temp exchange server, a member of the same exchange organization. Move the mailboxes to it. Rebuild the new server as exchange2k3. Move the mailboxes back.

However the only option I can see is "enable or disable" for this complexity option http://www.winnetmag.com/Articles/ArticleID/25962/pg/2/2.html HTH
