The problem with what you are stating is a rather complex topic. Throttling bandwith requires a network appliance that is able to differentiate what frame belongs to what application. If you start at the low end of the OSI model, you can block applications by port number, but nowadays applications (p2p apps) can use dynamic port numbers. Even then, a savy user can use HTTP Tunnel to force all traffic to port 80 (few admins use firewalls to block 80) So now you need to go higher on the OSI model (up to 7) where you can purchase a network appliance (www.packeteer.com) that can difference between the frames no matter the port number used. So now what about 802.11q or Quality of Service .... well in most environments it is not feasible. You need to be running the service as well as the client and use a Windows 2000 2003 proxy to run the Admission Control Service to weigh the priority of the packets. ISA Server is another possible solution, though very heavy on the resources of a machine. This topic has been covered in the threads before, so feel free to search for other posts. But I believe for the SOHO user, at the moment, the best bandwidth manager is talking to the user. HTH

Cyber See my post in the other thread. Playing with that specified check box should give you the desired results. If your users aren't too swift, use the Connection Manager Administration Kit to package your settings to have them easily deployed.

Correct this is client side. The default is to have all outside traffic go out of your vpn connection.

Under the VPN connection settings for that session Networking TCPIP Advanced First Tab (which is general) By doing this, it entails me to VPN into RDP sessions at work while still using HTTP,FTP,SSH going out my home gateway. HTH

I want to add hardware while hibernating
DS3Circuit replied to duhmez's topic in Everything New Technology
The hardware itself needs to support Hot Plug n Play not just the software. So if the motherboard and modem dont support it, I dont see how that will function "correctly." I believe the environment that you are creating isnt a stable one for that session. Just my $0.02 -
Flashed the bios? Updated chipset and motherboard INF drivers? If standby and hibernate are disabled, perhaps a driver conflict is causing problems with ACPI. In Device Manager, what type of computer is it? APIC Uniprocessor MPS Multiprocessor Standard PC

HKEY_USERS hive has 73Mbyte size, probably Exchange issue
DS3Circuit replied to valo's topic in Networking
Never was an advocate of ghosting servers ..... Software raid is unsupported. Hardware raid (though doable) is unsupported .... DOS drivers are a pain to configure. Besides .... my exchange box has several 10+ gig stores ... I have no intentions to ghost that .... Best way to backup .... Veritas Legato -
http://www.labmice.net/networking/RAS.htm http://www.labmice.net/networking/VPN.htm http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/columns/cableguy/cg0101.asp If a firewall comes into play you need to map ports and configure protocol IDs: PPTP Port 1723 UDP for authentication GRE ID 47 for the actual payload IPSEC (IIRC) (L2TP) UDP 500 for IKE Protocol IDs 50 (for AH) and/or 51 (for ES) Then again with IPSEC you have to make sure your router can pass it over NAT .... firmware updates/software updates/newer versions of IOS support this. Drawbacks ... hmmm Login scripts dont work (batch, cmds, etc) Those links should guide you on your way. If you have particular questions feel free to ask.

Quote: How does a person remove programs from the startup bootup process in XP? START / RUN / MSCONFIG or http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml The situation you have been describing I have also seen when a profile is unable to unload the registry. The event viewer tells the tale. Other ways to increase boot times are using bootvis.exe (from MS website) and shutting down extraneous services. HTH
