  1. I'm administering a Windows 2000 server used as Terminal Server. Some 20+ people are working on that box so the easy way to fix my problem, a reboot, is not possible during working hours. The problem is, there's a couple of files locked (open) by users locally (not over network connection) which I need to delete. The users are not even logged on so I'm kind of stuck here. Any help would be highly appreciated. T.

How to close open files on Win2K

As English is not my mother language I think there's a misunderstanding here: the files in question are marked as open by a user that was logged on via terminal client to the server but is not anymore. It seems to be much more difficult to close a file that is _not_ open via a network connection. Thanks anyway for the quick response

    HP N5250 W2K Migr issue--battery driver??

There's a driver pack on HP's web site at http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/softwareDow...getype=software. I suggest removing the battery in device manager, installing the driver pack and then reboot. It ought to pick up the battery then.

    RAID or USB2 backups

Quote: Found a "Raid or not to Raid" post, but it didn't seem to answer my question. So, here it is. <cut> She's got the itch to move up to a faster PC (P4 vs. her current P3), and the guy she buys her equipment from is talking to her about setting up the new PC as RAID. Help! I think that's a bit of an overkill for her needs. Snapper, this will depend on what kind of data casualty you expect to fix. An accidentally deleted file is gone no matter what RAID set you employ. My suggestion with regards to current hardware prices would be to go for a RAID 1 with rather small hard drives (2). That way even if a drive breaks you can work at that PC and no data is lost, RAID hardware is most likely on the board of that new P4 anyway so it's only the cost for an additional hard drive. In addition, I'd get a USB memory stick drive. Save to it all the frequently changed files, there are some freeware programs which will copy files you select to it on a regular intervals. The cost for this is highly dependable on how much data is frequently saved. With that solution the business of your wife should be able to be up 24x7 and no valuable file should go missing.

Trouble with Catalyst 3.4 and 3.5 Drivers

...but that 60 fps sound terribly like the v-sync is on, hence the limit. If you go to display properties, settings, advanced and to the tab labelled Direct3D there's a slider for the option, I suggest checking there and setting it to always off.

    .Vcd Extension File

Quote: what did you want to download? I could be a videocd. Try to open it with the mediaplayer. or .VCD Virtual Communications Driver wich I have no idea what it is or .vcd application/x-cdlink ??? no idea I'd guess it is a file created with Virtual CD. That proggie creates images of CDs you can mount in a virtual CD-ROM drive. These files have the extension .VCD. I have a copy here I never use, mail me if you need it, I'd send it to you by snail mail.

Long filenames and CD burning probs!

I'm not sure about the specs of the UDF disc file system but for me it works perfectly to create a UDF disc, there don't seem to be limiting restrictions when it comes to file name or directory level length. One thing to keep in mind however is that you need to have a UDF reading enabled OS to read from the disk. This can either be achieved by additional drivers (Ahead has one on their homepage for all MS systems) or by OS native support like in XP. Hope this helps
